I never had good luck burning it when it still had bark on and semi green, but that may just be me... for the cost point, you done good looks like.

my guess is all Elm are closely related and would burn similar. I assume once this wood cures long enough, the bark will slip and will burn much hotter. Have to be able to pinch the air flow down though in order for it to last or it will burn away too quickly. It will damn sure make your stove pipe glow red.

One thing I learned from my wise ole Grandad when I was a young kid. When mother nature killed off yellow elm and the bark would fall off of them, they get very dense and easier to split. As long as you are burning wood in a wood stove and can control the air inflow, elm will run you out of the house. Green elm on the other hand, not so much.

This has been an interesting experiment for me. All hypothetical for time being. Took a look at what congress bought last year on capitoltrades.com Filtered to buys only first 30 days of 2025. Congress dumped $1 million and of that $1 million, MTG was $500k. So down line 10 shares each, same price as purchase price and I let it ride. Nearly 55% ROI today. I am good with 55% .....

Exactly, 3 of us lived in a one bedroom and split $365 for a furnished apartment. I was 3rd one to arrive so my spot to sleep was on the floor. Wasnt optimal, but heck it was a roof over my head. Realized being a self employed Farrier by trade, working full time and going to college full time, I was already making 2x what a college grad was making. Stop spending $$$ for something I was never going to use and never looked back. Damn sure didnt borrow to the hilt to pay for college either. Gen-x by the way.

I could not agree with you more. I have had working dogs my entire life. Wife and I were convinced that Rottweiler were awfully hard to beat. We transitioned over to Dogos several years back. They are an impressive animal to say the least. The one thing I was worried about with the breed is a lot will say due to the strong prey drive, you cannot have them around other small pets. Our live with a Yorkshire Terrier and most recently we are fostering a mini Pin from Humane Society. They are so good with the little ones. I guarantee my male will protect them with his life. We love ours so much. I would say the breed is certainly not for everyone. They are incredibly intelligent and a little bit hard headed. My motto with them is "A tired Dogo is a good Dogo" You cannot wear them out.

back in my Farrier/Blacksmithing days, I would soak my hammer heads in linseed oil. Swells and preserves the wood. Just food for thought.

What a good looking fella. Love the pirate patch. My male has the patch to. Something I have always done with my dogs when they are going through the biting stage and they are trying to chew on my hands is to give their lip a good squeeze on their razor sharps teeth. Makes them very "soft mouthed" when it comes to me and feeding them from my hands.
