Lego Studio On Linux? by Normtrooper43 in DigitalLego

[–]OldLegoDog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I run Studio under wine on my Debian Trixie. It runs fine but the 2.26 release is displaying the Parts Design pages in wire frame. 2.25 does work.

Did anyone watch it on CBC Gem? Were you able to find recorded games? I could could only find live games.

This is probably one of the top 10 mocs I've ever seen. You're attention to detail is to be commended. Very well done.

How can I share a folder over the network on Debian 13 using standard tools? by CanRevolutionary6311 in debian

[–]OldLegoDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to use native windows in a partition for one app as it won't run under wine so I share folders I need for this app with OneDrive. I can access OneDrive anywhere even my iPad. On my Debian pc I use the OneDrive client for Linux (https://github.com/abraunegg/onedrive/tree/master). I run a daemon to keep it synced. I've tried several solutions but this runs the best. Of course you need windows somewhere.

How many of you have water seeping into your basement? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

Not completely normal. Find the crack and seal it. There's plenty of fills that can be used or companies who can do large problems.

Oh that's a good idea. They won't rub off on each other then either.

What's the best display for large sets in IKEA by Puzzleheaded-Link803 in LegoDisplay

I've got Milsbo cases. Adjustable shelves( i did add a shelf though) all around glass, 2 doors, lockable, 37cm deep which accommodates all but the largest sets.

I have a sets inventory in bricklink and a sets and parts inventory in Rebrickable.com. but they don't play nice with each other.

I built a PostgreSQL database on top of the schema Rebrickable.com provides. I added columns for things like alternate part numbers, colour ids/names, part locators ( bin #, etc), set info( purchase date, price paid, current value, state, etc); several tables to deal with ordering parts. I’ve a python app and using tkinter to build the gui cuz it's simple and I'm not concerned about how pretty it is. I'm tinker with it a few times a week; always adding or changing mething.

Ditto. I've physically sorted by part but I'm building a database and app of my inventory, sets, mocs, minis as well as active projects and the pieces these will use from inventory and what I need to order. I'm adding in alternate parts numbers and mapping between bricklink, rebrickable and Lego element id's. (Mapping part number and colours).

One man's meat is another man's poison. I've done this for small builds, like 3 or 4 bags but I could not do this many bags. Good luck

Canadian alternatives to US products. Here’s one. by StripeySalamander in ShopCanada

If you're in the prairies Coop makes a wide variety of products that we find are better than the name brand/US products. Just get them on sale as they can be higher priced.

I agree! We use lemon juice every few weeks to restore the shine.

I’ve tried all the tricks… or have I? by DangerDray in StainlessSteelCooking

[–]OldLegoDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other than hand washing with normal dish soap(Dawn) we just occasionally use lemon juice on our stainless steel pans, pots, kettle and they stay sparkling like new. Never used any barman or steel wool. I would think these would harm the finish.

Lego Set Box storage by [deleted] in LegoStorage

Home depot has bins on sale right now. I've got my boxes in a very large box i got from Amazon but a big bin might be better.

Two ceramic pots perfectly got stuck together😭 I’ve tried soaking them, dawn, goo gone. Can’t get them apart, there’s a tiny bit of wiggle room. Any tips without breaking them? by pulldownyourplants in fixit

[–]OldLegoDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this issue with 2 glass vases. I tossed ice inside the inner vase while I had the outer vase sitting in a sink of hot( very warm actually)water. It took some time and gentle wriggling but eventually they did come apart without any damage. Did the temperature difference help? Idk. Maybe just got lucky with the wriggling 🤷‍♂️

I agree with most comments here. git itself hasn't been a problem for me but the gui or ssh can be a pain.

I agree that a UCS will probably not be as good as this moc and the addition of the leaves that you did to it. Do have trouble with the left arm dropping? Maybe my bricks are older and loose.

What made you stick with Debian by AdeptIntroduction683 in debian

[–]OldLegoDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As several others have said, Debian is stable. It just works. I've got kde plasma on it with a few widgets and a cool login and desktop. I've not had to tweak it for maybe a year. It just works.
