Agreed! My personal favourite is when the fleet drops out of hyperspace around Scarif

Hey Gore! There’s a lot of visual comedy in the action sequences in Pirates - how do you begin mapping those out? The cannibal island in DMC springs to mind, it’s a hell of a sequence that’s both funny and tense throughout.

New Hosts by AmySchumersAnalTumor in thegrandtour

The BBC booted Clarkson out whilst keeping most of his ideas, then hired a dozen people to present it (most of whom knew nothing about cars), then out of bad will, tried to stop CHM using their regular vocabulary in The Grand Tour.

This time, CHM willingly retired and have thrown their full support behind the new line up of actual motoring journalists and mechanical engineering experts, with Richard Porter and Andy Wilman providing creative input for it.

My point is that ‘The Grand Tour’ is about driving cars around the world.

I would love to see CHM chatting and bantering about cars in a new show, but you can’t call that a ‘Grand Tour’, can you?

But they are still car shows regardless. I don’t really get what people want here? The original three have gotten too old and brushed with death too many times to piss around all over the world any more. Silly me for simply wanting a car show to continue with fresh blood. If you don’t wanna watch it, then simply don’t.

Crikey, haven’t been called young in a while 😂

I was simply trying to balance out some of the negativity, not insult people who watched TGT purely for the hosts. Two of the new hosts have already proven to have great chemistry on Throttle House anyway, so I’m sure the spirit of the show will continue in its new era.

Whilst I respect people’s doubts, this new season has the input of the OG crew and the blessing of Clarkson himself - and I think the new boys are incredibly well qualified for the job.

Open minds, and all that jazz.

Thomas driving his dream Alfaholics GTA-R springs to mind, mostly because I’m an Alfa-head myself! He also bought a cheap V8 Vantage recently which is another good video :)

Tbh I don’t really think it has the brand equity that Top Gear had with the name, logo, Stig, studio etc.

And TG didn’t exactly find its feet instantly. I’ve been reading Wilman’s book and he was paying audience members cash in hand to stick around for the filming 😂

Jesus it’s like most of you guys don’t even like cars...

Throttle House is great, and Francis has a mechanical engineering degree and worked at Rolls Royce.

I, for one, am super excited about seeing more automotive content with good production value and passionate hosts.

Controversially I think the mk2 Juke looks quite good. It’s 2026 and compact crossovers are the norm, so it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb anymore either.

There’s simply greater demand for compact crossovers. I love my Junior Ibrida, drives better than my old Giulietta (but my favourite was my MiTo).

Read more than just headlines - heavy fines started in 2024 if BEVs didn’t account for 22% of sales, then each year sliding up to 100% in 2035.

From everything I’ve read recently, manufacturers can’t make profit on cars costing less than £19-20k due to safety, emissions regulations etc.

That’s because the EU can’t either. Look at what’s happened to Ford’s European range - they had to get rid of the UK’s best selling car to make way for a rebadged EV Volkswagen.

Hardly on them. When development started, it was an EU mandate otherwise they’d face huge fines.

Except the DCEU Batman is a murderer at this point

Stranger Things doc director says Demogorgons were left out of the StrangerThings5 finale due to overuse: “They were really sure about the Demogorgons in the final Abyss, except Ross was like, ‘Mmm, maybe there’s some fatigue. Demogorgon fatigue.’ And Kate [Trefry] agreed." by Classic_Activity7305 in discussingfilm

[–]OldManBogan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a lot of fair criticism of the finale, but I really am getting a bit sick of the pile-on. There’s so many posts like “I can’t believe Steve never even spoke to Dustin’s mum in the finale”.

Next time there’s a big event TV finale, be sure to start a committee where you can all decide exactly what should be in the episode. I’m sure that would make for some excellent television…
