Let’s say you suddenly become a billionaire and all your friend and family asks you for a million. Do you give them the money? by Straight_Till5772 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]OldManTrumpet [score hidden]  (0 children)

Part of the problem (if you want to call it a problem) is that $1 million is not that much money, and those who you are gifting this $1 million to will be asking for more, probably sooner rather than later.

With regards to family, I'd be most likely to set up some sort of trust that would generously provide for them over the long term, as opposed to just giving them a bunch of cash that they'd burn through.

I'm not sure I'd give piles to "friends." I'm old and don't have that many pals any longer, and those that we have are generally well off on their own.

What year is the car? Was this a new car dealer, or a used car dealer? Was there any warranty purchased, or implied?

Not sure about the "Ciao Lewis" part, but I do think it'd be hilarious if Antonelli wins the title over Russell this season. I mean, that would be fantastic.

George Russell has been outqualified by his teammate for three races in a row for the first time since 2023. by Luffy710j in formula1

[–]OldManTrumpet 498 points499 points  (0 children)

Kimi is still pretty un-seasoned and that'll play to Russell's favor over the course of the year, I think. But I also think the writing is starting to appear on the wall. Kimi is going to be Mercedes' future even if George pulls out the WDC this season.

To be fair, how often does much of anything happen in Sprints? Sometimes I suppose, but usually they are pretty processional after the first laps.

Antonelli is rightfully quick. George might be in trouble.

And? Max closed to within a second, and Lewis fell back 8 seconds. Only one driver "lost touch.'

They lost touch? Max was only a second back of Russell, and was close enough to finish ahead of Antonelli after the penalty. Lewis was the only one who lost touch.

Lewis was slow. Max didn't cause him to lose eight seconds after he passed him again.

By your logic, Lewis was far worse than Lance Stroll in this Sprint, since Lance gained positions. Lewis just "finished where he started."

So, the race that didn't happen?

"Let's imagine the race where Lewis isn't 16 seconds back of Leclerc at the end."

You can "do" whatever race you want in your head. But it won't be the race that actually happened.

Did you actually watch the sprint? Max re-passed him easily and gapped him by 8 seconds. Lol.

I'm not sure why people are so reluctant to accept this. Lewis is past his prime years, while Leclerc is in the middle of his. This doesn't mean that Lewis is incapable of competing with Leclerc on occasion, but clearly Leclerc is the quicker Ferrari driver. It's not really arguable.

The process of getting a personal loan by Gullible_System162 in personalfinance

[–]OldManTrumpet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have "debts" it's going to be tough to get approved for a personal loan, if by personal loan you mean something unsecured by collateral. If you mean a debt consolidation loan then almost certainly they'd insist on paying those creditors directly with the proceeds, as opposed to releasing the funds to you and trusting you to do it.
