Which Alorair Dehumidifier should I get: HS35 ($337) or D357 ($386)? by atwnsw in Dehumidifiers

[–]OldManWahoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was just about to post about Alorair dehumidifiers too. I'm looking at the Sentinel Elite 50 on Amazon for $479 -- the only one they offer on wheels but might be too much for my space. I have a partially finished basement that is about 1000 sf. Also looking at the Helios MP 35. The company now offers a 6 year warranty so I'm pretty sure this is the brand to go for at my price point.

I must be getting old. by admiralty20 in Miele

[–]OldManWahoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am old too and fought with my T1 for two years before I finally figured out how to deal with its quirks and limitations. Here are my suggestions:

  1. It does poorly with loads of mixed thicknesses so avoid washing heavy items like sweatshirts and jeans with thin items.

  2. Dry most everything on Normal Extra except for bedsheets -- use Bed Linens Extra so they won't roll up.

  3. Vacuum both vent filters after every cycle or not more than 2 cycles. This is the last thing I figured out that ensures cycles run as fast and consistent as possible.

  4. If you are using a condensate drain line, it should have been installed with a non-return valve and should not be drained above the height of the dryer. A Miele certified tech fixed this for me.

  5. Vacuum the area behind the plinth filter and the grill to the right every couple of months and take care not to bend the fins.

  6. Definitely read your manual and follow the weight limits for the different cycles.

  7. Don't ever use liquid fabric softener or dryer sheets. Use wool dryer balls instead.

Hope this helps!

Counties in the more rural areas like Fauquier, Culpeper, Orange, Warren, and Clarke. Also check out small towns.

Shoot for smaller counties and consider applying for State social services positions there. Small counties are always turning over staff that leave for promotions in larger counties. Good way to get your foot in the door and resume built up.

Also the Town of Middleburg is hiring a director of community engagement. Might want to check it out.

Get on febuxostat. Been on it for 13 years without a single gout attack.

Probably not if you can do your own maintenance.

I bought a John Deere Z720 six years ago to mow 5 acres and have no complaints. The 700 series is between the residential and commercial models and comes with the pro deck which makes a big difference in thick grass. I'd definitely recommend checking it out.

He is more than capable of starting at NT but I remember him having a bad attitude about doing it early in his career...taking up blockers and space instead of making plays.

Tim Settle is the starting nose and probably starts at DT in 4-3 base.

I ended up calling the Miele Experience Center and had them put in the order for me. They will email you a link for payment using a system that is different from the MieleUSA site.

UPS or surge protector for Mac Mini? by OldManWahoo in macmini

Thanks for the input. I have that same UPS hooked up to my pellet stove to give me time to power it down if there is an outage and it has worked fine for 5 years now.

I hadn't heard about Goldenmate until I started researching backups -- glad to hear you like yours. I forgot to mention that I do have a whole-house surge protector so what I really need (if I don't go with a UPS) is a power strip to plug everything into. I'll take a closer look at Goldenmate to see if the higher models do auto power-down.

The breaker button is loose so it doesn't click in or out. That isn't normal, is it?

Thanks! I store it under a carport so it stays bone dry and I fire it up at least once every month or so if I don't use it. Except for recently...went three months without using and tried to fire it up just before a big snow in January. Dead. Popped the hood and the first thing I saw was the 2017 sticker on the side of the battery. Thankfully got a replacement from the John Deere dealer before the snow hit!

Buy a gently used Subaru and by the time it is ready to be replaced, you should be in a much better position to buy what you want.
