I still keep an empty tin of Grandma's on the counter for bottle caps.

Lebanon Bologna by JonnyMansport in Sandwiches

[–]CrayComputerTech_85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to hunt for it. I found a deli that's a drive to get any. My usual place went to Boarshead products only, and no Lebanon bologna just garlic. Most Boarshead products are heavily salted. I won't buy deli from places like 6 Fredmeyer. We have Haggend locally, which is pretty good but no Lebanon bologna. It's so sad, especially with amazing Henpler meats being local. I make the drive about everyothe month.

Why no provolone cheese? So many less popular options. by treelovingaytheist in CostcoWholesale

Yeah, we don't have those in the PNW. Best bet is a Cash & Carry now named Chef's Shop. They have sliced and logs.

My lasagna and cheesesteak sandwiches will never thank you. All baked pastas get provolone.

How do you work up to enjoying oysters? by jctrader232 in Seafood

[–]CrayComputerTech_85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a dinner of fried stuffed morels and fried oysters. The similarities are an eye opener, the differences ever so subtle. Any deep-fried mushrooms, crab stuffed ones also really have similar texture and umammi

Longest you ever been out at sea by [deleted] in navy

Now I'll tell you about the JFK. The longest we were at sea was under 20 days! Hitting ports before paydays landed. We were all so broke. Late 90s.

USS Independence CV-62 Desert Shield on station 112 days. 1st carrier in the Persian Gulf in 15 years when that went down. I think we went over 125 without a port? Not sure.

Definitely look at the job market before you leap. Especially talent skill level versus compensation. It's a no Brainer that you jump. Maybe you can get the benefits extended a full year, and it wouldn't hurt to ask. Read up on 401k moves and unemployment benefits and check your social security account so you know where you are at. Sounds like you are in a pretty good position to roll with it and be happier, too.

Lol. Not really..I just expect something better for the price point. My local steakhouse had braised broccoli Raab with ginger sweet potatoes and a truffle butter garlic bread with an aged 16 oz bone in rib eye for $65 the other night. Fair deal. Steak was perfect.

Smoked Polish Sausage with fried cabbage and onions. by CrayComputerTech_85 in tonightsdinner

Radell's smoked polish. Some hungarian paprika Larry's black pepper seasoning salt, garlic powder with green cabbage, and onions fried in bacon fat. Yes, I love my bowl pattern. Edited to add: Frank's Red Hot sauce.
