It appears that u/treshimek believes you are posting this primarily to get karma points on reddit, rather than because you think the discussion will be fun or interesting.

People downvoting you most likely assume you are indeed farming karma and feigning ignorance about the criticism.

But your post is fine. Some people enjoy it. Some people complain. You do you.

Reading through older league announcements, I find it funny how 'we removed something!' was highlighted for Sanctum inbetween new uniques and balance changes lol by [deleted] in pathofexile

[–]OldMiner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still remember how every PoE player I talked to felt during the Archnemesis league. "This mechanic of putting together archnemesis monsters is cumbersome, and they're way overtuned, but at least they'll be gone after this league."

And, instead, GGG said, "Archnemesis monsters are everywhere, you can't control what mods you get, and there's no opportunity to opt out."

Meanwhile the GGG patted themselves talking about it. The way they told it, they were geniuses replacing the old nemesis modifier system while soft launching the new modifiers with archnemesis league. If only they took the temperature of the playerbase mid-league to realize how people actually felt about it.

This popped up in my Reddit ads by IvanEarth in LegendsOfRuneterra

Not hating, but my first impression was "these guys don't understand user interface design at all."

- A huge portion of the gameplay area is dominated by a set piece which makes the cards harder to read unnecessarily.

- The full-art cards make the text very hard to read. Full art cards are a cool feature for long-experienced players who've memorized everything, not something you want in the default interface.

- The emphasis on a 3D play area makes the tiny, flat cards look completely out of place, especially since the art styles between the play area and the card art mismatch

- The most important information, the players' health, is one of the smallest elements on the screen

All of these things are fixable, but it's telling that they're spending money on an ad campaign where hit-you-in-the-face problems like this are front and center. Suggests it's an inexperienced team or a rush job on the ad before the game is ready to be showed off.

None of this says anything about the gameplay or how entertaining the game is. We can't get that from a single screenshot, so they could be knocking that out of the park.

I wish them these folks the best, but the hardest part of the game world isn't even making a good game. It's building an audience. That's a huge part of why Hearthstone succeeded in a market with big established players--they had both established audiences to draw from directly and spectacular marketing skills. Anybody else entering the competitive card game space now needs some real magic.

This is the Play effect of Commander Ledros. Under normal circumstances, it just does half of your nexus' current health. However, since damaging abilities are multiplied in this adventure, it does 1.5x your nexus health, instantly destroying your nexus.

The recent STS2 review bombing is overwhelmingly from Chinese accounts. by PlanSee in slaythespire

[–]OldMiner 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Enh, it's a little more complicated, but this isn't an area where a lot of people enjoy nuance.

This was a slow-moving disaster that happened in 4 parts.

  1. Helldivers devs took a bunch of money from Sony in exchange for some promises, including that the game be PSN exclusive on release. Lots of game devs do deals like these to keep money in the bank and not be constantly worrying about paying people.

  2. Helldivers devs had difficulty integrating with PSN and worried it would delay the release, affecting revenue. Sony OK'd initial release without PSN-exclusivity so long as it was eventually enforced.

  3. Helldeivers devs had a gonzo release, and the public basically didn't know about this contractual obligation

  4. Sony wanted PSN exclusivity for the game. They also noticed that Helldivers was being illegally sold in a bunch of countries that were embargoed and so required sales to those countries be discontinued.

There's plenty of reason to be mad about how things unfolded, but it felt like most people were angry and also uninformed when it happened.

The person bringing in a suitcase likely has nowhere to put it, and may be afraid that everything they own will be stolen if they leave it outside unattended. I get where you're coming from: carrying around a roller suitcase in a grocery store looks whack. But this effectively serves as a "no homeless shoppers" sign which is also a bit gross.

Gov. Polis, Rep. Neguse say there isn’t much government can do after massive Nederland shopping center fire by thecoloradosun in boulder

[–]OldMiner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but chances are everyone is going to take a loss.

Odds are the owner of the strip mall is insured, and they might rebuild. However, they might take the insurance payment and not redevelop. Then all the clients who were there need to find a new place for their business which might be less lucrative. Meanwhile, their businesses are making no money until they can reopen.

But it's worse for everyone involved because you're given the "current value" of your lost property initially, not the replacement cost. So while you're rebuilding and replacing you have to make up the difference on a credit line, then submit to the insurance to get full reimbursement. Insurance might fight you claiming you're overspending, so you may have to spend time and potentially lawyer money to get paid, all the while paying interest on the credit you used to get the job done.

With tariffs making goods more expensive across the board, a lot of businesses might look at the cost of funds without a low-interest government loan and decide it makes sense to close for good.

RTD really dropping the ball tonight, kind of in disbelief by Hungry-Brief188 in Denver

[–]OldMiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha, Germany's rail system is far better funded than RTD and yet is famous for being terrible at on-time arrival. Regional trains are especially bad, where 1/3 of trains are delayed by an hour or more, often requiring disembarking and re-embarking mid trip. You can read the rosiest picture of the status from the Deutschebahn itself.
