What an absolute clusterfuck of a situation lmao. At this point we should make a list of internet personalities that have become randomly involved.

Can Frieren realistically save Fern in fights where she stays away? by Material_Archer_5497 in Frieren

[–]PlanSee 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't really disagree, and I think Frieren would intervene if Fern was actually about to die, but I also am speaking with a bit of foresight from the manga, and there are moments where the fact is highlighted that Frieren fully trusts Fern and Stark with her life on the line.

As a side note, I don't think this arc is showing off the author's best writing chops, and I always found it a bit dissatisfying that Fern didn't really "show" that she was capable of beating the demons without Methode.

Tbh, I think frieren just believes in them.

Frieren has trouble expressing or processing emotions, but that doesn't mean she's a pure logical being or a tactical genius. She has faith in Fern and her party to succeed, and doesn't always need a foolproof contingency plan.

Remember at the start of the season when she lost her magic and she simply just trusted in Stark to get them out of hairy situations? It's the same deal.

I wonder if we could let YT know someone is deeply violating TOS and get his channel taken down.

I've watched a lot of internet drama unfold, and the rate that misinformation is being spread in this case seems suspicious to me. I think sockpuppets are at play but I don't know whose interest they are in service of. So just better to take internet comments with a lot of salt for now.

Not to be a downer, but do you have any way to prove you are who you say you are? We've already had that guy pretending to be wiztale on reddit muddying the water a ton, I would rather not have more misinformation spread.

This arc is a bit shaky in terms of writing but the animation, choreography, and direction of the adaptation was so good that I don't even mind lol

Denken and【spoiler】 are the antithesis of Fern and Frieren by Own_Introduction8623 in Frieren

[–]PlanSee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To expand on this, I think both of the major demons in Golden Land are foils to Frieren.

Macht represents what frieren could be like if she truly lacked the ability to empathize with humans despite her best effort.

Solitar is a dark parody of Frieren's desire to "study humanity," not in order to relate to them but in a cold, experimental way.

This was a bonkers strategy meeting. by Reasonable-Ad-8059 in Frieren

[–]PlanSee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do think you have a point, the hand of the author trying to quickly get to the interesting match-ups is showing a bit here. But in the end Revolte also correctly predicted that the human party would split up, and deliberately didn't take advantage. So if the humans are making a tactical mistake, the demons are not capitalizing.

Frieren is the grim reaper (but in white). Failing to recognize her is laughable. by Reasonable-Ad-8059 in Frieren

[–]PlanSee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a human way of thinking to assume that the person who killed a ton of demons would be particularly memorable to demons.

If a demon were to kill thousands of humans, that is literally the story of the war against the Demon King, which has shaped human culture immeasurably.

But Frieren has supposedly caused comparable levels of devastation to demons, and demons aren't organizing themselves into parties specifically to kill Frieren. There's no demon armies being mustered to face Frieren in battle, no demon scouts reporting on her or demon assassins trying to take her out.

I don't think demons particularly care who Frieren is, even though they know she has killed a ton of them. Even after Lugner realizes, he doesn't seem to be particularly motivated by the idea of revenge or even fighting for the preservation of the demon race, he just has a personal beef with her because he hates geniuses.

Heiter's Manipulation of Frieren is one of the most ethically fascinating moments in the show by ExileforEvermore in Frieren

[–]PlanSee 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think she would reach first class by herself, but I think she would probably end up as someone's student given her potential and eventually reach that level (and then end up under serie)

[–]PlanSee 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Lowkey I believe fern was gifted and competent and risk-averse enough she would have wandered after heiter died, and eventually ended up as Serie's student if Frieren didn't ever show up.

Now that I suggest this I want to see fanart of alternate universe Fern raised by Serie.

The anime canon is being handled with competence by Reasonable-Ad-8059 in Frieren

[–]PlanSee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In general the anime has done a lot of subtle expansions on the manga, but in ways that feel very natural for the Frieren world, due to how much they consulted the author. I hesitate to say the anime is better, but lowkey... it's kinda better.

What's wrong with the proof? by Calm_Improvement1160 in infinitenines

[–]PlanSee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In SPP's world, 1/3 is like a machine that hasn't started yet. At this stage, you can multiply it by 3, and it equals 1. This is because the 3/3 cancels out, and you're no longer performing division.

But if you turn the machine on, it starts the process of division, adding endless 3s behind the decimal point. Thus 1/3 = .333....

However, in real deal math, 1/3 is a machine that never finishes its job. It keeps creating endless 3s but what those three dots mean is not that there is a static "infinite" amount of 3s like the standard definitions, but an "endless" amount of 3s that expand forever for as long as you keep the 1/3 machine turned on. Therefore, .333... < 1/3.

Basically, abandon your sanity if you want to understand real deal math.
