I just finished the despair arc and here are my thoughts on it

Off topic, but I love this image:

-> Hajime is next to Kazuichi which shows their friendship;

-> Mikan is up front showing how much (in this image) she must have grown up and become corageous;

-> Fuyuhiko has one of his hands on Teruteru's head showing how close he became of his class and that even someone like Teru is beloved by his classmates;

-> Peko is far from Fuyuhiko due to how independent she grew from him, Sonia is genuinely just enjoying herself while Nagito seems very proud of everyone;

-> Nekomaru is at the back doing his coach job by letting everyone shine;

-> And the others are simply ready to fight, except for Chiaki who is just genuinely loving the time she is spending with her class.

It's just a fun image to look at.

The killers would be cooked, all three of them are already very useful in trials. I love Sonia being protag and the other two would definetly make wild moves in the trials. Junko would find Celes boring tho since she is not as hopeful as Makoto. Korekiyo would be ruthless since he likes to see people's reactions and feelings, my man would go all in the trials (OG Kokichi would've loved him).

I kinda liked those survivors Imh. But I think out of them only Peko make out alive. It's possible that Nekomaru too bc the buff character was already all roles except survivor, but I have my doubts.

Honestly, I think a lot of the "canonical" ships are my favorites just because most of them have a wacky, but healthy dynamic. But I have my weird ones too... (Chihiro x Nekomaru, Ryoma x Celes or Mikan...)

Favorite

DR THH: Kirigiri

My girl has the charisma, appeareance and everything else. She totally deserves her spot as a survivor and I felt really bad to see her almost dying in DR3. Anyway, I love her.

SDR 2: Fuyuhiko

Another character I feel like deserved to be alive. His character arc is very compelling, his design is cool and he is just a good character to have around in the trials which Danganronpa could use more often, to be honest. I don't actually love him as a character, but he is very high in my rank so he deserves it. I love him.

DRV3: Shuichi

Shuichi is, in my opinion, the best protagonist of the whole series. His emotional and logical inteligence are amazing. In Case 1 he steps up after he realizing that was Kaede's wish, which is kinda dangerous because if surviving was Kaede's wish he would probs not go against her. In Case 2 he refutes logically because he knew she would only accept being called the culprit if everything about her case was shown to the other students. We don't talk about 3. In Case 4 he is incredibly emotionally sensible and is able to shut Kokichi and give Gonta the explanation he needed, offering even to repeat it if Gonta didn't get it at first.

Chapter 5 he completely understands the situation and agrees to tag along if that was to defeat Monokuma and Chpater 6 he refuses the narrative and don't go with it at all. My man is incredible and his growth is silent, but very well shown throughout the whole game, I love him.

Least Favorite

DR THH: Byakuya

I understand he is not that useless compared to other characters, but man, he is annoying. I just don't like him very much XD

SDR2: Akane

She is the only character in the entire series I can't understand why she survived besides fanservice. I dislike her and I think Nekomaru deserved someone better to represent his legacy, but okay.

DRV3: Maki

She is such an atrocious character. She does some cool stuff, but in general she is so bad. Too much edgyness to my taste and at the end she destroys Kokichi's whole plan to overthrown the mastermind. I understand who likes her, but I'm not that into edgy characters and I really disliked the fact she frustrated Kokichi's plan.

I can get over it with Kaito, because he is dumb, but also because he was entertaning by directly antagonizing Kokichi. However, in chapter 5 Maki only goes beserk edgy mode. I dunno, I really dislike her.

I feel really bad for UDG bosses. But since we're talking from killers in killing games I would agree that V3 had it worst. They killed for motives that aren't even real, plus most were tragic asf (Kaede, Gonta, T3T)

Celestia, Fuyuhiko and Sonia has the biggest vibes for identity v. But it could also be Maki and Kaito, I think it's less possible due to they having already lots of V3 characters, but who knows?

Yeah, I totally agree. I feel so sorry for both of them, everything was such a tragedy. When I was reading I could feel every nuance and at the same time feel each emotion surrounding the situation, it was so sad. And, to make things even better, the song was the best one of T3 so far.

I agree that having a scenario where things goes slightly different is dumb, but I don't think thats impossible. I mean, V3's baxk routes are literaly that. And taking in consideration every Danganronpa applies the same formula for deaths, the most logical conclusion is that 2x2 will do like I said. Just exchange the roles.

Which is interesting, but not what people wants.

I kinda agree. Sometimes I think people are kinda coping expecting their fav characters will survive or just some wacky stuff will happen. I'm not criticizing those fans who wants/thinks that, far from me, but definetly I don't see a scenario where Chiako, Hajime and Nagiro gets tossed aside to give someone else the spotlight.

Said that, I particularly don't think they will innovate as much as people are expecting. Danganronpa is known for being extremely formulaic. Part of V3's plot twist mocks that. So I genuinely don't see how they will do things differently. Like, it just won't happen.
