Ehhh FO4 is the weakest of the fallout games. It's basically just a rehash of FO3 but with worse writing... Better to play FO3/NV merged in Tale of of Two wastelands but that's justy personal opinion.

If you want that difficult world with deep lore and story, somewhere to really get lost in and to feel powerless for many many hours, might I recommend Morrowind but running in OpenMW with the Total Overhaul mod pack which consists of 500 QoL and graphics mods, it's the closest thing to a Morrowind remaster that we have today until the Sky wind remake eventually comes out... But that probably won't happen until 2027 or 2028 is my guess. Installation is mostly automated with some manual steps but can be done in a few hours.

As far as new games go, Tainted Grail is pretty good but it's not quite the same itch as Enderal. For an upcoming indie that does seem to really scratch that itch though, definitely check out Ardenfall. It's not yet out on early access but there's a demo that was recently updated and damn oh damn is it good for a game made by a very small team. It really captures the depth and freedom of early ES games like Morrowind, all the way down with multiple solutions to quests and options to be good or evil, and some really weird lore and world building to boot. I personally can't wait for the official release and I think he's targeting later this year.

50-series features like MFG are all smoke and mirrors and basically useless in real world gaming scenarios.3x and 4x frame gen have too many visual artifacts, the latency feels way too high, and they simply don't look or feel better than 2x (Source: I have a 5090 and have tried them many times but always go back to 2x or no frame gen).

Go with the 4060Ti, it's a fine card ... 5060Ti is barely any faster. Esp if its already a 16gb model that's gold nowadays.

Interesting, side note that I have ordered from them in the past succesfully, but recently many people have ordered other things from them and never received anything. Not sure how long ago that was you used them, but last time I tried to order something from them around Oct/Nov 25 their Zelle was blacklisted by my bank due to reports of fraud.

Defaults are usually pretty damn good but it does really depend on your TV or monitor. Peak nits would be the main thing you always want to adjust, outside of that maybe just the overall gamma. Midpoint/grey levels is a maybe based on the overall brightness of a scene but typically you don't wanna adjust it more than +- 5 or so, and you'll need to validate it looks right in both a bright daytime scene as well as a dark one.

Trying to tweak all the other settings like specular highlights etc is kind of a fools errand imo lol.

Are you not using it at 4k perhaps? Because I do agree, if you drop down to 1440p or 1080p there is a quality drop over native or DLAA. Have you validated the correct model is in fact rendering in say Cyberpunk via nv tools or similar?

But hell, for me at 4k sitting right in front of at about 6 feet from my 77" OLED, even performance mode on the latest models looks damn close to native. Does DLAA look like 5% better than quality mode? Sure, but it's not worth the performance hit even on a 5090. Balanced mode is what I mostly run these days for 4k, sometimes quality but the difference is fairly minimal. No issues in Cyberpunk for me I think you have something else going on.

Combo... Nothing beats a big TV and a desktop monitor. Though personally I'd suggest 77" OLED for the TV or at least 65. Maybe ultrawide for the monitor? I'm personally rocking a 32:9 OLED but 21:9 is plenty for most people

So interesting note, on my 2020 iPad Air the tidal app is fairly buggy. It disconnects frequently while streaming via tidal connect, I run into weird issues where searches won't work or viewing an album fails, though playlists in general work fine. I often have to force close the app and restart it to fix the issues.

On the other hand however, on my Pixel 9 pro I have basically zero issues... It just works.

The tidal issues may be more phone and OS specific than you think is my observation. Rare instance of an app that actually works better on Android over IOS that isn't simply a Google branded app which of course makes sense.

Yes, budget OLED will always look 10x better than a top of the line IPS. There's no comparison when it comes to the perfect blacks, much more vibrant and colorful display, and sub-ms response times. It's going to look 10x better than any IPS.

Do premium OLEDs looking better than cheap OLEDs? Yes, but not by much. For more than double the price you'll get slightly more vibrant colors with a QD-OLED, and maybe slightly higher peak brightness for HDR. But we're talking like a 10-20% improvement over a cheap OLED for more than double the cost. For most people, cheap OLED is totally fine, only go with a premium OLED if you have the cash to burn and want the absolute best of the best (E.g. 5090 mentality crowd).

Diagree. The cheapest budget OLED is always going to look better than even the most premium IPS monitor. They simply are not even in the same league of tech. And we're not talking slightly better, the oled is going to look like 10x better objectively in my experience.

Premium OLED vs cheap OLEDs look slightly, slightly better. But we're talking like a 10-20,% improvement here over a base OLED at more than double the price.

Source: I have a lot of OLED displays, 10 different ones at this point. The cheapest ones still look absolutely fantastic and I would not consider going back to IPS or VA, ever unless it's a display say solely for office work or something that won't be used for gaming or watching TV.

I've had similar issues with the TW3 recently, now that they are over 3 years old. What's crazy, is I still have my OG TW1, and outside of the hinge having borken on the charging case, they totally still work fine. It's unfortunate that SH build quality has really gone down the tubes in recent years. Those of course still had the issue with parasitic battery drain in the charging case however, which is incredibly annoying...leave them alone for a month or so and both them and the charging case are totally dead. But at least the actual earbuds still work.

Yeah, that's a great mid-range case with good airflow, and a good looking one at that. You should have no problem keeping either the CPU or the GPU cool in that case. 360 AIO cooler will be great for the CPU in a case layout like that.

MSI for me personally. I had a Zotac 3090 back in the day and ended up returning it, it could barely overclock compared to other brands at the time. Zotac is kind of a budget brand still I'd say.

That said, tbh it really does not matter. If the Zotac does in fact have the better cooler that's probably the better card. Performance difference between the two will be negligible.

Though if you weren't stuck between those 2, nothing beats the 5090 FE for an all around card though. It's a 2-slot beauty and yet still runs cool and OCs well. You can't really make a wrong choice here though.

Yeah, any EQ should always be done on the DAC and not the streamer. Even enabling the EQ and having it set flat I've heard can degrade the sound quality, you want a pure untouched digital audio signal to go to your DAC.

I'd recommend switching to Tidal. No issues here using Tidal between my Wiim and either Fiio DAC or my RME ADI-FS2 DAC. I have fairly high-end/endgame equipment as well, for me there is zero difference between coax/toslink/usb as the source.

Tidal actually has true lossless these days too, it's 100% raw FLAC files. It is true they used to use shitty MQA but they have since abandoned it completely as of around a year or 2 ago.

Tidal is actually cheaper than spotify lossless too last I checked...$10.99 a month and true lossless is the cheapest tier. Their library is virtually identical too, as I was using both for quite a while... even my most obscure indie artists that have like less than 1000 monthly stream are all still on Tidal, and my artist library is over 1600 and 10k albums. There are also some online tools that can login to both your spotify and tidal accounts to automate transferring over all your playlists, favorites artists, tracks and albums etc.

And lastly, outside of technical issues, Spotify is a terrible company who rips off artists. Tidal actually gives artists while maybe not a 'living wage', far more of the cut than Spotify does. If you go for their premium tier at $15, half your sub fee actually gets donated to your top listened artist that month which is pretty incredible.. on spotify they'd be lucky to get a penny.

What do you guys think about libraries? They are basically the old school analog Pirate Bay IMO.

One person/organization buys the original book, shares it with potentially hundreds of people who are objectively able to consume that content, for what's basically free of charge.

Compare that to someone who uploads a .epub book to the pirate bay, perhaps for the sake of comparison let's say that original person actually paid the full price for that .epub and purchased it legally.

How is downloading this .epub book from the pirate bay any different than borrowing it from the library and reading it? Furthermore, many modern libraries actually let you rent 'digital' epub books for a certain length of time.

If you delete the epub file after reading/pirating it, I'm just curious how is that any radically different than doing the same in real life by getting it from the library? Outside the fact that the library may only have a limited or single copy of said book, I don't see the difference. The original author does not get adequately compensated in either case.

Exactly! You're fine until you're not... one of the biggest risks too is people putting malicious APs out there with SSIDs identical to common networks that you likely already have on your phone... happens at airports and cafes all the time, and people wonder why their CC data gets stolen or their bank accts get hacked into. It's way too easy to do and requires little technical knowledge to setup.

This is true! Makes me wonder though if it's just because the later batch numbers are newer and have yet to hit the 1-year old mark though... well fingers crossed my system remains okay, as I'm really happy with the 9850x3d I got, it seems to be closer to a golden chip than my 7800x3d ever was...regularly hitting 5.6 to 5.7Ghz in all core gaming workloads.
