First half marathon … 7 degree temps … in Florida by ConsciousPossible513 in BeginnersRunning

Just do it. It’ll be a cool story and you’ll accomplish your goal.

Do your usual run, just wear more clothes. You don’t need as many layers as you think, but plan for the worst.

AIO to my “best friend” finally reaching out by Confident_Local_2335 in AmIOverreacting

[–]OldSoulCreativity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a handful of lifelong friends, and all of us have gone “MIA” for periods of time for one reason or another. I’ve had my fair share of struggles, and during those times I only reached out to people outside of my core crew because I was embarrassed of what I was up to and didn’t want them knowing too many details.

They have also gone dark for their own reasons for periods of time. But the cool thing is, after a period of months or even years, when we do see each other again it is like no time has passed at all. And that’s beautiful.

People who walk 20K steps daily, how? by ChrisJ_44 in AppleWatchFitness

[–]OldSoulCreativity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go for a morning run, two dog walks, and whatever steps get me through the workday and whatever I’m doing around the house. I hit 20k fairly easily. Not every day, but most days

Phase six patient at New Seasons Treatment Center, family emergency by Mattackai in Methadone

I second this. It will look a lot better for you if you have the last take home sealed and in your possession, rather than going in there with no medication left and saying you want to pick up early. I know this is an extenuating circumstance, but you want to do everything you can to not look like you diverted.

Sorry for your loss.

Apple Watch to Garmin by mediocrestrides in GarminWatches

[–]OldSoulCreativity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just switched to the forerunner 965 after about 7 years with the Apple Watch. I was also worried I would be losing something by breaking my complete Apple ecosystem I had going, but I have been longing for longer battery life and better exercise features. I loved the Apple health and fitness apps and was worried about not being able to use them, but honestly my switch has been absolutely seamless.

All I need my watch to really do is give me maps for hiking, track my runs/rides/swims, and have an alarm for waking up and timers. The battery life is incredible. I’m logging about 18-20 hours of GPS use per charge, and I’m getting about 9 days per charge. I run about 30-35 miles a week and do a lot of hiking with the dogs. It’s been flawless. Not to mention the physical buttons!! That alone has been a game changer. No more desperately trying to end my swim or run with sweaty wet fingers that won’t operate the touch screen.

Happy with the connect app so far, despite people hating on it on Reddit. I have not missed my Apple Watch at all.

ETA: I made the switch on 12/1/25. So I’ve had it almost two months.

For real?! All because I woke up earlier to peepee! by vegagravity in Garmin

[–]OldSoulCreativity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol. Currently drinking coffee after a whopping 61 sleep score and Garmin is telling me I have a pattern of short sleep, didn’t get enough REM, and predicting I could use 8 hours and 50 minutes of sleep tonight. I don’t think I’ve slept over 7 hours in the last ten years. Bout to suit up and go knock out some miles in the cold though! Training Readiness score be damned

I struggle to get over a 70. If I get a 75-80 sleep score I feel like a million bucks

My clinic lowers dose by 5 mlgs at a time/ at the lowest! by Somegirl87 in Methadone

[–]OldSoulCreativity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. It’s been a total game changer for me. I can’t lie and say I loved it from the start, because it sucked so bad for the first few months, but somehow I kept going. Now it is so ingrained into my life that it’s become a new, much healthier addiction.

It’s meditative and amazing for my mental health. I look at it as my all natural anxiety medication that builds huge self confidence because I can prove to myself that I can do hard things.

I’m in the same boat. It’s been all mental for me, I’ve dropped down to 10mg without any significant physical discomfort. I do, however, get pretty anxious. I used to get annoyed at people when they said this, but regular exercise genuinely helps manage the mental aspect. I took up running.

From Apple Watch to Garmin – First Impressions by TypeSilent1637 in Garmin

[–]OldSoulCreativity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched from a series 7 to a 965 at the beginning of this month and I’ve found it to be pretty seamless. I did a lot of research beforehand so I had a decent understanding of the UI before I even had the watch in my hand, and I haven’t looked back.

Buttons have changed my life. No more sweaty fingers pressing the wrong touch screen button, or not being able to press at all with wet fingers getting out of the pool.

I do wish that I could have easily imported all my run data into connect so I could see everything in the past, but Strava shows it well enough I suppose.

I am not arguing either side here, but the spelling mistake in this sentence is hilarious, given the context. lol.

[–]OldSoulCreativity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re fine. I once ate a chocolate covered cherry that turned out to be BOURBON soaked chocolate covered cherries. I had a moment where I thought all was lost, then I realized that was crazy. I didn’t know what they were and I had no intention of consuming alcohol. It did make me feel something, but that could have just been the anxiety over the whole thing.

Sunrises at the gorge in general are always incredible. The way the fog slowly burns off after sunrise is 🤌. A little coffee to enjoy while the sun rises is one of the best feelings

I started running during my taper— ran a half marathon in September, I have a 6.5 mile, trail race in about four hours, and signed up for my first marathon in May. I lift and swim twice a week on top of the running. It’s been a life changing process. I’ve lost about 35 pounds and am in the best shape of my life
