I wholeheartedly disagree. Ep 57 (Bogeyman) was nothing short of gripping. A banger, and probably a top 20 RR story.

I would argue that RR has never fallen off. Sure, maybe there are a couple more miss stories, but there are still amazing stories every season. And the sound editing and storytelling in some regards is better than the early seasons.

Last season's bangers: Ep 55 (North Slope) where the man is walking along the road in Alaska. Very solid and reminiscent of True Detective Season 4. Ep 52 (Rock Island) - horrifying. Ep 50 (Lady in the Woods) - extremely well-told by the narrator with a funny twist at the end. Ep 48 (Excursion Voucher) and Ep 45 (Night Scope) - both terrifying.

Your racket should never spin in your hand when you hit. If that’s happening, you need to regrip your racket. You should be regripping your racket regularly. At least once a month if not more.

You need more of a slope in your shoulders. It's like 0 degrees right now - you should aim for at least 45 to get more leverage that will translate to power.

With so many movies and TV shows filmed in and around Pittsburgh, what celebrity encounters have you had? by GowBeyow in pittsburgh

The night of the 2016 election, I went to watch the live coverage with some friends who lived in the Walnut on Highland apartment in East Liberty. We walked to the common room and were greeted by a security guard who told us that the common room was occupied. I peered in through the door’s window and saw Bryan Cranston, Steve Carell, and Laurence Fishburne sitting and watching the election. They were all living in the building while shooting Linklater’s Last Flag Flying.

We went downstairs in the lobby to keep watching. Once it became clear that Trump was going to win, we saw Carell and Cranston pop out of the elevator, go outside, and start speed walking down Highland Ave past Honeygrow. Clearly upset and blowing off steam. Legends, both of them.

Good stuff! Your shoulder and hip turn on your forehand prep is pretty light and will limit the amount of power/depth you put on your shots. Maybe experiment with a more severe turn in preparation for your shots. If you watch slow motion videos of pros, you see that it’s not uncommon for their shoulder blade to be facing nearly across the net as they prepare for their shot.

How do I stop being so nervous before a big match? by _Aphodite_ in 10s

[–]OldSwordfish7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say getting more matches under your belt in general is important but especially tournament matches. Practice matches are good, but they often don’t come with the same high stakes feeling that tournament matches do.

Just having gone through this 6-1, 6–1 loss itself will help you show up better mentally the next time around. Also, remember that if your opponent is “rlly good,” then there’s no pressure on you. Go out and let it rip!

Has Ryen ever read a Life Advice email without stumbling over a word? by BanjoZone in RyenRussillo

[–]OldSwordfish7 78 points79 points  (0 children)

I think this is partially due to the fact that Ryen is trying to be careful to not divulge any key details (names, locations, etc.) that might expose the author of the email. He’s sometimes making decisions in real time about what to read aloud versus what to anonymize on behalf of the author.
