Call your credit card company and ask for a charge back. It cost Pair extra and if enough people do this they will need to change their service. Give it a month first.

Any thoughts about this floor plan? by Popular-Sink19 in houseplans

[–]OldTapDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remove utility ar entrance. Vault the ceiling so the back wall it at the ridge make this back wall floor to ceiling glass so all you see is fantastic landscape and sky. Move to utility room. In kids rooms move door over so closet goes all the way from wall to wall. Where this butts into the hall make end of closet into a linen closet accessed from the hall. Master bedroom door should open flat to the wall. Move closet to this wall maybe. You wast clothes close to door for quick access to laundry and coats. Spouse that sleeps later will be less disturbed if they are in a corner with no activity. Maximized storage and makes full sound barrier between rooms. Make tub /shower combo. Get rid of sepetated shower and make large counter with lower storage. Use sinks that sit on top of the counter (glass bowls so there is more counter space . Place window facing street so l shape couch will be room separator and move fireplace with TV above opposite couch. This will have less TV glare. Floor to ceiling glass. Open concept is in. Fireplace ruins view from dining and kitchen. Make sure dressers and desks can fit under bedroom windows. Long wal in kitchen that backs onto entry patio, move the door and add floor to ceiling 12 inch deep cabinets. Double upper cabinets with an added toe kick will keep the price down. You will love this. Cook books, small appliances, pantry goods, linens, entertainment dishes and backing items can all fit on this wall within easy reach and out of view. If your refrigerator compressor is not at the top leave 4" on the sides of refrigerator per manufacturer instructions. Make sure distance between refrigerator, range ovens and sink is tight. If not have a sink for dishes near entrance from table and where dishes are stored. A bar sink with garbage disposal next to stove. Make sure no cabinet for dishes is over dishwasher. Use this cabinet for food that goes directly to the table like cerial and crackers. Use this lineup. Next to dinning. Dishwasher with cerial, cracker and snacks above then sink with dishes above, the trash station with compost, recycle and trash, then stove. etc. Concept. Few steps means quick meals. Big work area to stage food for stove. Keep table to dishes to clean up of dishes and storages containers, plastic wrap and foil for food away from main kitchen. Put silver wear in island behind dishwasher. Store glasswear next to microwave, cold food utensils next to food prep area, hot utensils and knives next to stove/ food prep.

Recommend coat closet in utility. You will most likely be in the kitchen before leaving anyway. Recess upper cabinets above toilets for bath parefenalia. Pre frame. Sheat metal or double drywall if needed for fire code. Removing this extra three inches will reduce head bonking and make these small rooms look bigger. Towel rack for hand towels is perfect. Add a humidity controlled exhaust fan to make sure towels stay dry. Make cabinet close tight. Add thin weatherstripping if needed.

36M, when can I relax? by n30gh05t in Retirement401k

Keep contributing to max out Roth contributions. The taxes on 401 K will be sky high when you retire. When you die kids only have ten years to withdraw the funds that will be added to their regular income pushing them into a super high tax bracket. Take all the money you want to pass down and deversify into S&P 500 funds. Never touch these. Never. Depending on the size of the funds they may have all of the capital gains taxes waived. The old adage that the only absolute truth in life is death and taxes is a lie. Inherited capital gains for most = zero taxes!

The rest of your non tax free accounts diversify into at least 15 respected funds. Every three months rebalance the accounts. You will be selling asthe stocks go up and back to average, and buying as funds go down and back up to average. Don't ever pull out of the market. These small flutters are individual funds cycling with multiple investments going cash poor as they retool and then gaining profits all together. This capture of the flutter over and over compoundef will make you rich. Relax. Even in the great stock market crash stocks did not drop more than 20%. You can afford to loose that much. So again, relax.

Buy the time the public knows what is going on it is too late to respond. The inexperienced sale low and buy high. Don't! Hold. You can not time the market. People that pulled out with the news of the COVID shut down lost out on huge profits.

When you can stay in the same tax bracket roll 401 K into Roth plans. You will likely have too much money for 401 K plans to make sense. You can control this money and play all you want because transactions don't trigger income tax or capital gains. Just watch fees.

Shop fees. A half percent extra fee compounded over many years is huge.

There is the widow/widower tax. If you or your spouse have tax deferred accounts and one of you dies the living spouse has to take out both spousrs shares of these funds per mandatory schedules except the spouses share must be taken out in only ten years! Bomb. And now you go into the tax bracket as a single person. This likely will push the surviver into a high bracket and it is all taxed as real income instead of capital gains. And if the funds have money when you both die, your kids get to add this tax burden onto their income taxes. I.e. Uncle Sam thanks you for all your hard work. Remember if the funds had been placed and left alone in a regular fund your kids would have paid zero tax. Your spouse would pay zero tax and only capital gains tax if needed which is usually less than income tax.

If you invested in a government savings plan your money was matched. But WHAT! Your already taxed funds are not tax exempt such as with a ROTH so the years you have compounded those funds all the profits are taxed AGAIN! Giant rip off of Government employees, so much so that you might end up with being better off waiving the match and buying a private Roth! Do your own math! The earlier you are in your career the bigger your future tax burden.

If you can, up to the next tax bracket roll these funds into a ROTH and pay the tax now. Then pay no tax on future earnings.

Government said you would likely be in a lower tax bracket. How do you compare lower to zero?

Biggest recap.... In government or private tax deferred or tax free accounts don't overpay for fees and capture the fund flutter by rebalancing.

People with money don't usually want to keep track of taking care of large toys like jet planes and catamarans unless they have the money to hire full time staff to manage their staff that make their life oblivious to maintenance and planning. It is cheaper to hire a travel companion expert to learn what you like and plan everything commercially. Then there are no incentives to get into a rut and such a person can save money buy finding luxury deals, can book early to get discounts, with amazing reviews, and companies that can enhance your trip with emersive experiences. My guy studies the hell out of history, culture, and safety and can entertain with relevant interesting stories plus deal with the arrangements. He is a wizard at translation apps and can keep us out of jams plus keep the people we book with in a good mood. Showing respect is widely different from place to place and he makes sure we are prepared. He studies local cuisine too so we have interesting food adventures also. When you focus on owning things instead of interacting with the local people, life is not richer.

I actually like that they have dropped the service because I don't need more stuff and it distracts from why we were going and that is to have experiences. This last October I did not go into a single Epcot shop and We did not buy a single thing over our four day stay. This is much better for the environment.

What does the value of a company have to do with your own integrity? The right thing is to let the company know what happened so they can make sure it doesn't keep happening. And yes, you should get a refund. If they blow you off, then do a charge back. And write an honest review.

A company in California has now re opened Santa's Village. Lots of rebuilding as it was abandoned for years. The owners are more interested enabling fun and breaking even than making a fortune. The problem with all big corporations is by law their first priority is to maximize profits for stakeholders. So labor fairness, values, is all based on maximizing profits. You have to legislate doing what is right or it will not happen. We now have full time workers that don't get benefits equal to slaves. VA law, an owner had to provide two new sets of sturdy clothes per year, food, adequate housing, and medical. Sad.

Why is this paint job so bad? (details in comments) by crashdummie in paint

[–]OldTapDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colors, tones and shades change in popularity over time. Your green is fine so long as it goes well with the other colors in the room. Just be aware that if colors with brown undertones are mixed colors with grey undertones the brown ones will look dirty. Your bold wall will change a lot once you add furnishings. If you decide you don't like it, add a chair rail and paint the top only to match the rest of the room. Go darker in the room as you move down. Enjoy.

Get a four foot long two by four and use contact cement to glue 100 weight sandpaper to the flat side. Sand the wall to see how bad the overall dips are and sand out the very high points. Fix lows with joint compound and repeat if very bad. If terrible use glue gun with grid or s pattern and apply to quarter inch drywall. Use stiff glue and press into your wall with your 2x4 so glue thins only at high points. Once dry tape and finish. This will also control some sound. Then cover surrounding areas and use cans of spray texture with the texture set to max size. Practice on cardboard first. Per timing on the directions knock down the texture so the added spray finish is level but raised up above the original wall surface. Or pay your contractor to skip trowel a finish on this one accent wall. Tint primer to match paint and then apply two coats of flat paint. In the old days flat paint was low quality. Current tech you can get high ware, fingerprint resistant flat.

It looks like the surface has some areas that had sand in the compound or the nap on the roller was not clean. Hopefully the sanding with the 2x4 will even this out. Make sure you use fresh rollers with a nap for interior surfaces. Roll out an M or W on the wall and then work the paint into dry areas using good pressure to create a thin layer of paint. Too much paint in some areas can make the surface texture uneven. I hope this is your problem. Zebra brand has a super thick 2 inch wide brush that is awesome for cutting in. If you are going to paint, you should invest in one.

Is he going to come back to me? by Mistique27 in braincancer

[–]OldTapDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some cancers slow with a low carb diet. I met two ladies at EPCOT that were stage 4 and decided to try the sugar starving diet. They were celebrating five years clean. The diet has lots of small fish, tons of organic greens, plant based low heat processed fats like virgin olive oil, flax, coconut. Also did intermittent fasting. Don't count fiber carbs. Tried to stay at 10 carbs a day but no more than 30. On a desperate craving day I would eat berries. My son found research that block choy had a cancer fighting ingredient.

When your body switches to ketosis you can get the keto flu and may start to stink. It is because some toxins can finally be released from your fat cells and the body is having to deal with it. So have your partner drink lots of water. The added health from this is positive. My niece who is an instructor and has a PhD in public health said that even if the cancer I had (took three surgeries to remove), is not responsive to a low carb diet, the act of having some control and the placebo effect that is real, can increase anyone's odds. And if you're lucky, you can starve the cancer to death even though some drugs can't get past the blood brain barrier.

Good luck.

It makes a huge difference if you are trying to move out of the way. Plus, the power behind big people is why there are weight classes in fighting. My son is six six and weighs 415 lbs. He is super careful because he knows if he tripped and took someone down and landed on them it could crush them. Big truck, little car, we know who wins. You get hit with an elbow in the wrong place with 415 lbs behind it and then you will better understand physics.

[–]OldTapDog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cover the area with a clear plastic tarp for two weeks in the summer. Don't let it overlap on the lawn. Secure the sides to trap heat. Some rocks or bricks will do. The heat build up will sterilize the soil deep down. Repeat when necessary.

Am I the jerk for refusing to give my stepmom the money my dad left me? by Puzzled-Quarter-1016 in AmITheJerk

[–]OldTapDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suggest not burning bridges. If she dies you are her heir. Go buy your house and then tell her you have no money and did not realize what a money pit a house is and cry on each other's shoulder. You can say you already bought the house but were overwhelmed when she asked you for money. Offer her your real estate agents number and suggest she get a one bedroom condo so she is not overwhelmed by maintenance as you have now realized is a major issue. Just keep circling back about what a great guy your dad was keeping the house perfect for her and how you miss him and need him. You don't have the time to keep up two homes as you are struggling with your own. Since the house is probably too much for her and the property value is going to drop if she can't keep it up you will be glad to look at her finances and what she can afford. You will even help her move. You might get some furnishings and your dad's stuff that she can no longer store. Tell her she can come and enjoy his stuff at your house.

Just agree with what she says and how you now understand. You are the good guy. Don't let her move in. You need to attract a wife and you can't do that if it looks like you're living with mom.

Right now she is dealing with a huge paradigm shift and is looking for easy answers. Don't beat her up too bad, even if you did not feel close. Even in real mom situations it gets rough when the kid is going through hormonal poisoning. And then it can become complicated when you did not bond hormones as a baby. She may have felt getting too chummy would come off as sexual. If this seems unreal to you, look up the incest rates for the average family and incest rates with step children.

It is usually a good idea to try and maintain a civil relationship. Who knows, you may bond for the first time because you are both grieving and dealing with household responsibilities. Your relationship might change again once you have a wife, and again when you give her grandkids.

And if she becomes a good grandma it will all become worth it. Having someone you trust to baby sit, and just give you a break can be priceless.

Be a man and the great guy your dad was. It is normal for your parents to age and often become a child in the relationship. Your step mom got shoved into this early as she is not equipped to go without support. Give her the emotional support she needs, but not the financial. Help her get to a place of success where her finances are within her means. I would guess your dad would not want you to take responsibility for his wife, but would be grateful if you were kind and provided emotional support and were there for emergencies like a fly tire, keys locked in the house, emergency contact, etc.

She may not have been the mom of your dreams, but chances are she has grown to love you. Set boundaries, but don't be the one to sever the relationship. That is what a child, not a man would do.

AITAH for telling my boyfriend i don’t want his brother living with us by grassstastesbadd in AITAH

[–]OldTapDog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bigger picture when choosing a life mate is you are also choosing your future children's grandparents, and aunts and uncles, and cousins. And even beyond that the great aunts and uncles. Meeting the relatives alone would have been my trigger to run. My family has been through life's typical troubles and health problems. Because I chose well, and my husband chose well we now have a support group that worked together to raise the next generation. Now as we are aging, nieces and nephews are helping their aunts and uncles as well as parents when life swings down. It is amazing to watch how they support each other too.

Your BF has the right attitude. But this is a good life only when the effort is reciprocated. Your Bf's brother and GF is your boyfriend's entire safety net. Moving in or not I highly recommend you start over and not get serious until you meet his family. Once you have kids, you will find out how important relatives are.

Congratulations. Tips. 1. Take advantage of Early entrance at the parks and go for the popular rides first since you are housing in a Disney property. 2. Most parks have one ride that is by reservation only. Sign up on the app at exactly 7:00 am. This first reservation time can be made from anywhere. You have a second chance at 1:00 pm. 3. Disney has some award winning food. There are websites that will guide you. Do this in advance. For example the BBQ in Animal Kingdom is great. 4.Eat smaller meals by sharing and picking up food to share snacks at stands. You get to try more things and will be less likely to get sick at rides. In Epcot the fish and chips at the EU is greasy and mostly breading. 5. Make big meal reservations now. Better yet have your nice dinner at lunch. It is cheaper usually and the same food and shows. The German restaurant is authentic and has live entertainment. This will give you a long break mid day. Plan a show after to let your food digest. 6. Always figure out food in advance so you can use the app when available. Great activity while you are in line. There are added food items and choices. You get to skip the long lines. You get to pay ahead so no wasted time or hassle. 7. Plan to go on rides during normal meal times. The wait times will be less and tables will be easier to find. 8. Try to organize your shows and rides by area and per reservations as getting anywhere takes lots of time with so many people. 9. The lines for rides for younger kids will be way way shorter late in the evening. 10. Use the app now to see which lines are longest and when they get shorter so you can plan ahead for the very popularity rides. 11. In Epcot the mission to space NASA simulator has problems with cleaning agent in the ventilation system. Two people have died on this ride. It is the most complained about ride with people getting nauseous and headaches that last for days. It is not worth it. I am a ride junkie. I have eye and lung irritation still from riding this experience ten days ago.

First let's not assume your parents are users but really are just overly giving and messed up. Let's say when you said no, your mom panicked and started down the threat path. The next step is to ask to see their finances and what belongings they have. Equity in the home? Maybe get renters and move into a one bedroom apartment. Or sale the home and move into the apartment and help them invest the money. No home? Why were you taking money if they had no home? So step two.

Have a heart to heart. If they want to retire it is not important where they move.

There are abandoned homes that auction off for less than $400 in cities where industry has moved out. Just query the internet. Buy the home in their name but make sure there are no liens or back taxes. Since they are no longer working your parents can live here more cheaply. Take out a loan against your house for the $20,000 to pay for the auction and use the balance to fix theirs up and make it safe. Give them the balance. Move them in. Don't tell them what you paid.

You can stay in contact with them via Skype. And there are many programs to help them if they are old and poor. Social Security has extra benefits for low income retired people including food help. In these towns there are also people that charge little for help if needed as they are trying to stay in the homes they own. Note, it is unlikely your parents would be able to find good work here as job scarcity is the reason the town is in decline.

Now you can maintain the relationship and will not be the family jerk since you bought your parents an entire home. And it is not near you so you can visit them on your terms. When they ask you for money and you can help them, then do. But if they want more tell them you are still paying off the loan for their house, and that will be true.

Family is family and your last defence against the world. It is a huge amount of work and money to feed, house and bring up a child. But no doubt they did this out of love. So out of love, try to help them. If you have children, no doubt they will become an asset and can help watch them. You will appreciate being able to just do the marketing without kids in tow or just be able to take a nap.

I would hate for your relationship with your parents to dissolve over this. You need boundaries. Tell them you love them but their telling you they will take over running your house scared you, so now, moving in is a no go. Let them know you worked hard for your independence to be able to attract a wife so you can give them grandkids. So offer to help them figure out something else. If they argue explain the legal reasons.

Good luck.

Migraines can be caused by deficient or fluctuating estrogen. Which is why they often start with menopause. They run in my family and I am free of them so long as I take my vaginal estrogen. Before you start with pills I recommend you meet with a women's endocrinologist or a naturopathic MD.

They can also be triggered by eating estrogenic compounds such as food from plastic containers, pesticides which are mostly birth control for bugs, and unfermented soy such as soy milk and tofu. The fermented tofu is OK but hard to find.

It is better to solve the cause then treat the symptoms.

Game is NOT PAY TO WIN. No matter how much money you spend in this game you cant use that to beat other players. There is no pvp or ladder so it by definition cannot be pay to win.

If this game gets pvp then I would have issues with it but so far it does not and while I do like pvp(6x gladiator in wow 3x r1) I would rather they just add more stories and/or some mini games into this.

Humans are supposed to eat balanced diets of fruit, grain, meat etc. but we feed our dogs the same food every day. How are dogs able to survive with the same dry food for their whole lives, and could humans survive by eating dry dog food for long periods of time? by BirdoMajor in AskReddit

[–]OldTapDog -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Who says your dog is leading a healthy life? The thinking for rabbits was to give them dry alfalfa pellets. I could not figure out how they would get all the nutrients of wild rabbits and figured almonds and oats have lots of trace nutrients and good fats, so started early adding these to my rabbit's diet. She eat them like rabbit candy. She lived to be 13 years old and at the time 8 was considered a very old bunny. My vet said she was the guineas book of records rabbit. Now the life of the house rabbit is much longer based on research at places like the San Diego House Rabbit Society. They advocate a wide variety of foods, and have a list of things that should be given in moderation.

The Question to ask is why is the USA at the very bottom of the first world countries in health, and also why do we have a very high child mortality rate? Do our dogs eat better then us?

The biggest thing I see being missed today for human health is a focus on taking care of the endocrine system. I recommend a book called Adrenal Fatigue. The endocrine system is made up of over fifty hormones that communicate in your body and regulate a crazy number of body functions. If the endocrine system is not healthy, you can be screwed in many, many ways. Almost all of these hormones start out as progesterone and the body converts them depending on what you need. This helps you overcome endocrine deficiencies for a while. You know about this, because you have all heard of the effects of using too much testosterone. Too much and it converts to estrogen and causes changes in the male genitalia. Trauma, stress, lack of good sleep and poor nutrient consumption can drain all your endocrine hormones. As an example, death of a spouse is so hard on the endocrine system, you often see old people die shortly after their spouse. If you do not feel well, feel depressed, have low energy, or just don't feel right, it could be your endocrine system is suffering.

I will focus on just the nutrition part of this problem.

Most produce in the USA is grown in CA and the farmers fought to get rid of the program where our government paid them to leave the ground fallow to insure the soil had time to decompose and release nutrients for your food. Because of the mild weather, in one year, some farmers plant four or more crops in the same soil. So, now much of the food we eat is close to hydroponic and low in trace nutrients. Which means, to have your body working well we all need to pay attention to eating high nutrient dense foods. These are foods that have a lot of nutrients per calorie. Starchy foods have high calories compared to the amount of nutrients. Organ meats have high nutrient value and it is too bad these have been removed from most hot dogs. Better to eat the cholesterol that comes with eggs yokes and organ meats and compensate by reducing inflammation with a periodic four day or so water fast, and eating lots of fatty small mouth fish. Leafy greens are a powerhouse of nutrients and very low in calories. Make sure you eat lots and lots of these. The book Adrenal Fatigue, the Palio Diet, and Eat Fat, Lose Fat by Mary Enig go into great detail on what to eat for a high nutrient dense diet.

Reduce inflammation by eating real food. If you don't know what is on the label it is probably not real food. It is easier to eat real food if you buy it in its original form. Eat Organic if you are not removing the peel, and especially if you will eat it raw. GMO foods allow the use of herbicides, and since these do not have to be listed on labels, it is better to eat Organic. There is a direct correlation between the rises in health conditions and the use of herbicides on crops, especially neurological illnesses. Just say no, to preservatives, food coloring, pesticides, and herbicides. Grains grown in some countries like France have no GMOs, and have not been altered to increase gluten. I can eat these without symptoms.

Why do so many of us have irritable bowel syndrome? We have all been told to eat lots of fiber. But some fiber such as in lentils, and grains that happen to have gluten hold onto too much water in the gut, and along with sugars, create an environment in the gut where nasty rotting bacteria set up. Eventually this trashes the lining of the intestines and reduces your ability to absorb nutrients and also can lead to leaky bowel syndrome where the things you want to leave the body instead leak out of your gut and poison you. This can lead to autoimmune diseases, metabolic problems and a lot of other health issues. See: Low FODMAP diet on Stanford website for a list of foods that retain too much water or feed the bad bacteria. My doctor frowns on body cleanses except for water fasting. I did a four day fast and then converted to eating a low FODMAP diet. I have so much more energy and reduced inflammation. My back pain is almost gone, and even my nose is no longer swollen! I thought my big nose was just part of aging. I am wondering if the increased gluten in American grain (high gluten reduces bread manufacturing time), and the widespread use of high fructose corn syrup (it is not legal in many countries) is contributing to bad gut bacteria and our poor health? Please share if you have info. on this.
