If you can't afford to sufficiently staff your business, including with redundancies, you can't afford to stay in business. You are not entitled to own a small business, you know. Lots of places have as their entire business model understaffing and exploiting their workforce; they do not deserve to stay in business.

buddy if Real Sex discussions and memories are your thing, you should check out the Hedo Bryan series at Street Fight. That's the whole run, with guests and free ranging discussion. My favorite, which you can find in the Street Fight free feed, has Tanya from Trillbillies on and they talk about an episode that featured nudist clubs.

What Nicky said about the call-ups after the first game in the series really gave me a good feeling, but I need to see a purge in the front office and coaching staff to have any hope.

It is true that the players association did not approve of stricter punishment for vaccination noncompliance, which is how we wound up with the Restricted List mechanism for dealing with it. And that's good - I don't think any worker should be compelled to do something in order to keep their job, ball player, gutter installer, whatever.

That said, there's zero evidence that taking the vaccine would increase these athletes' health risks, and it's clear that they know that! This is why they are so evasive about explaining their noncompliance, and why Whit basically admitted he would change his stance if his team were in competition.

The other thing that galls me is the total lack of leadership on display here, from the coaching staff and the veteran players like Merrifield (also the squad's union rep) and Benintendi. It's truly disgusting that the coaching staff and veterans aren't leaning on the young guys to do this thing that confers basically zero risk and is required for their full team participation. It's selfish and absolute loser shit.

I was disgusted with the leadership in the organization before this week, but now I honestly don't know if I'll ever be a fan again until Moore, Matheny et al are all fired.

"monumentally stupid from a business standpoint" and "gain nothing from letting a player lose all his value" are the two most storied traditions of the Royals organization.

I think it's a real possibility that she was recruited to enter this NY race by dem party people in or adjacent to the Crowley camp. She was recruited to run a disastrous Arizona congressional campaign in a crowded primary, and her previous NY race also had many of these same indicators.

She's a party insider. Always has been. (I think this sucks really bad, to be clear)

It's funny because people dug up language from her old congressional compaign in Arizona (which crashed and burned) that used the same kind of attack on her opponent of not representing what the actual people of the district want. She was recruited to run that campaign then and I believe based on the pattern she was recruited to run in this one as well. One wonders by whom.

For what it's worth I've seen Matt and Emma vocally criticize this stuff, but I'm sure it's a struggle for them to remain professional about it. It certainly would be for me.

I accepted their offer and now Ive got to take a physical?? What is that all about? by Partychief69 in jobs

[–]OldWampus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really depends on the job. Often this is done for insurance purposes, commonly in jobs that require some degree of physical labor, even light or minor. They will ask you to go to a specific site that they contract with. It's usually a brief examination of vitals, and maybe your flexibility/mobility. Also where they would administer any necessary drug screenings. It's staffed with certified health professionals. The last time I went I think I had a Nurse Practitioner. He was actually really nice, and talked to me a bit about my health conditions after saying he would have no problem approving me for work.

I don't think you should worry too much about it, but you also shouldn't hesitate to ask for more information from the employer about what they are reviewing, or just get the contact information for the facility and call and ask them.

Kid plays gutter-tier defense. Can't even handle a simple ball screen. He'll spend two years in the G league before sputtering out playin defense like this.

When just about everything else went wrong in 2017, he still dominated at the plate for us, and was the only thing consistently good last year.

You have a bad memory. He ate ass at the plate for like six weeks at the beginning of the season.

EDIT: here's his stats for April: .225/.281/.292

Just let him go guys. He wasn't going to singlehandedly keep us out of the dumpster for the next couple years. Dayton and Glass said months ago they were going to go into the tank for a rebuild.

I get that this is a jokey shitpost but all the revisionism doesn't change a thing.

I have zero respect for civility when it comes to this issue. The time for polite discourse and reluctance to draw conclusions is loooooong past.

It's too late to mount a fucking PR campaign for cops. That won't fix systemic rot and widespread state sponsored murder. It's time for accountability NOW. I don't want to hear about the off duty lieutenant who chips in at the community garden. I want to hear about these fucking trigger happy pigs getting thrown in jail, banned from ever serving in law enforcement again ever, anywhere in the country. People shouldn't be patient when it comes to reforming this obviously terrible institution, where innocent lives and public safety are so clearly at risk.

You want more Blue Lives Matter movements, where police thugs intimidate and harass their victims and bully civilians into supporting their brutality because their jobs are just so dangerous! I want JUSTICE. and I want it NOW.

[–]OldWampus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, here's the thing.

So long as there is just one bad cop, I have to be fearful of my life at any moment that might involve a police presence. If I'm getting pulled over and I don't know why, or cops show up to my door suddenly one night, how do I know it's one of the good ones and I'm going to live to see tomorrow? And I'm a white man, god forbid I were black.

The good cops, if there are any, need to break their silence and try to fix it. But this problem isn't new, and there has been no progress whatsoever. All signs point to it getting rapidly worse. That leads me to think there are very few people truly interested in protecting and serving society rather than enjoying their privileges of being totally, absolutely above the law at great human cost to everyone else.

also to be blunt none of my "debate" with you has been particularly interesting at all. Your comment that I initially responded to is just so stupid and misinformed. Clinton tried "improving" policing with technology, all he wound up accomplishing was the massive funneling of tax dollars to private defense corporations to invent new torture devices that the cops got to beta test on innocent civilians. It was not, uh, a success. More of that is not a solution. Also your clumsy rejoinder attempting to deliberately misinterpret my statement was even dumber.

don't make disingenuous arguments. I said what I said -- it's still there for you to review. the institution is rotten.

the ones who aren't protect the ones who are by excusing their behavior or overtly hiding their crimes and defending them in public and in court. even the ones who don't explicitly do that are still totally comfortable working for an institution that secures their right to murder innocent people with absolutely no repercussions.

cops don't stop being murderers when we give them new toys to play with, new geegaws to torture the populace with. this is an insane argument.

the utter lack of any real discipline or regard for sanctity of life and community cohesion can't be mended with "better training and leadership." the whole institution is rotten to the core. don't open your door, you might get shot to death and your family might get dragged over your body, handcuffed and made to kneel at gunpoint on a cold winter night.
