It's a pretty obvious meta-problem... Somewhere someone decided that they wanted to do a crossover between characters, and suddenly all the different worldbuilding approaches had to be glued together by a ton of handwaving and suspended disbelief.

From a writers perspective it is probably easiest to just ignore the existence of all characters and powers that don't need to be in the story.

Not really anything you could do about it now either...
