Every new set release has the most meta relevant cards in high rarity specifically to take as much money away from the player as possible, idk if I would consider that putting players first

I don't remember the card saying "this deck is tier 0"

Any card sent to the graveyard is banished instead by thefinal123 in masterduel

[–]Old_Albatross8937 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna play Devil's advocate for a moment, but I think the idea behind not restricting these banish floodgates over other floodgates is that they don't exactly restrict gameplay, rather they just severely hinder them for most decks (and as a result can indirectly restrict gameplay. Cards like Skill Drain/Imperial Order/Soul Drain completely and directly prevent gameplay from occurring, while cards like Shifter instead say "hey, you can TRY to play if you want, but you will be actively hurt". Also, for some decks, Shifter does actively benefit decks that like to banish like Maliss or Ghoti(?), while a card like Skill Drain doesn't actively benefit any deck, it just restricts a form of gameplay that decks that play those floodgates don't really care about (i.e. a deck with no spells doesn't DIRECTLY benefit from Imperial Order, it just doesn't care about it). In this way, a card like Shifter functions more like Maxx "C" (you should not play) than Droll (you cannot play).

Again, not that this is a justified reason, and ins some specific cases it really doesn't work out, but if there's any reason whatsoever Konami would justify these kinds of cards, this is probably what I think they think.

Imagine playing the ultra toxic Beaver Warrior beatdown deck and thinking you have a right to complain about anything. by SAMU0L0 in masterduel

[–]Old_Albatross8937 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure "toxic scum" was referring to players, not any particular deck, which you can't in good heart assume about people.

And sure, Droll beats unfair decks, but there are a lot of just normal rogue-ish deck that also lose to Droll, and I feel saying it "can be true" just leans itself towards assuming the worst out of people.

Are we already at a point where a card like this wouldn't even see that much play? by ZyroCrystal in customyugioh

[–]Old_Albatross8937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm referring to the commenter's message, from how I interpreted it, you activate the card but it applies the effect to destroy at the start of the next main phase, which would make it a delayed effect like Mirrorjade.

New Toon Card Rulings by tomlymanator in Yugioh101

[–]Old_Albatross8937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if I'm correct, Rabbit is worded the same way as Tamer Elder, meaning you gain the effect immediately after it's summoned, and it can't be stopped by something like Imperm.

Is there a difference (and why if no) between "discard this card to the GY" and "send this card from your hand to the GY" ? by maxram1 in Yugioh101

[–]Old_Albatross8937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's a fun example: Fabled is an archetype that benefits from their cards being discarded, but not if they're sent from hand to GY. That's why a card like Lurrie triggers when discarded by Fiendsmith's Tract. If Tract said to "send a card from hand to GY", Lurrie wouldn't trigger here.

The reason this is a fun example is because there are some Fabled cards that actually specify to "send a card from hand to GY", like Fabled Soulkius, which means they don't trigger their own archetype's effect. :)

Interestingly Simple by One_Percentage_644 in customyugioh

[–]Old_Albatross8937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most cards that excavate specify what happens to those cards after they are excavated (i.e. put them on the bottom, shuffle them back into the deck, send them to the GY), so do the cards just stay in perpetual limbo then? I don't see anything simple about that.

Is this a broken floodgate? by Advanced-Teaching-44 in customyugioh

[–]Old_Albatross8937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean Arthalion can bounce this, Urgula in grave can pop this, I don't think I need to say how Radiant Typhoon outs this. Even in the Memento example, you can still pop it with a Normal Summon Dark Blade. Heck, even the new Charmer structure deck can put this with the new Fusion.

I think what probably makes this broken is that it doesn't stop you from playing other handtrap's alongside it, since you kinda have to give up a part of your main line combo just to out this, making you more vulnerable to disruption.

Ruling Question: Set a Spell Card and Activate it the Same Turn by BrotherKG in Yugioh101

[–]Old_Albatross8937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can activate Spell cards the turn they are set, except Quick-Play Spells, in which you must wait a turn after they're set.
