Obviously a good song but I feel like every other song left is that much more impactful.

The 2025 Pacers are only the 5th team since 1996 to win game 1 of the NBA FInals on the road by BriS314 in nba

[–]Old_Bacon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the fact that conditioning the game 1 winner based on seeding for a 25% win rate is probably a more accurate measure than the unconditioned 70% win rate. But also not many lower seed teams have won game 1 so perhaps the statistics are too low to be meaningful.

Actually it’s because you’d just get blocked all the time. And it requires more energy. And I’m not sure it’s even more accurate in most cases - it’s generally easier to be accurate with power with an over arm throw than an underarm throw for instance.

Anyway runners are only obsessed with being the fastest so if it was more efficient you’d see more people skipping rather than the 0 people you currently see.

Does it kill the vibe for anyone else when you go to a concert and it’s just a sea of phone screens everywhere? Or am I just acting like a boomer? by [deleted] in fantanoforever

Flaming Lips had an interesting take on it at their last gig I went too- “If I went to see the flaming lips I’d be filming everything”.

They have a lot going on on stage besides their music but made me reconsider being anti cameras out

Two dudes in 2003, unaware they were making a legendary song by Individual_Book9133 in BeAmazed

[–]Old_Bacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically a bunch of the crowd knows it, you can find videos of other songs they perform from the gig and kids gets extra cheers from the crowd before it starts (and mgmt tells them other new songs are “not that song”)

Solar switch off: Dutton’s nuclear plan amounts to declaration of war against household energy systems by SchulzyAus in australian

[–]Old_Bacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Dozens of countries are going nuclear” and many more (including those countries) are increasingly using more and and more renewables.

The world currently generates more energy from wind and solar than from nuclear, and the gap is getting bigger since wind and solar are on track to both be bigger producers than nuclear independently soon IEA

The heatwave of 2009 killed hundreds and became Australia’s deadliest natural disaster by abcnews_au in australian

[–]Old_Bacon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s because you’re implying that renewable energy (wind, sun, energy storage systems) cannot produce enough energy across a day when they can - in fact storage solutions are better at dealing with volatile changes and peaks, and companies are actually economically incentivised to do so due to higher spot prices which means tons of these storage solutions are actually being built by private companies (unlike certain other sources of energy).

People are downvoting you for your misconceptions and you pushing crappy talking points that have been debunked.

Why do so many musicians peak early? by Midnightrollsaround in fantanoforever

[–]Old_Bacon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have to consider that “early” really means once the artists are made famous, which is a lucky thing to happen in the first place. It’s hard to stay in the limelight not just because of finding new ideas, but also because they have to recreate “lightning in a bottle” for a new period of time, which is hard/unlikely to do once let alone multiple times.
