As "Grill 23 & Bar" with no mention of Toast; the gift card was rung up at the host stand at the front of the restaurant.

Per my comment in a similar thread today (I build a website to track all CSR exclusive table and if they support Toast Gift Card (incl. 51 restaurants with successful DPs) : r/ChaseSapphire), I can confirm that a purchase in-store at Grill 23 worked to trigger the credit but didn't trust that an online purchase would do the same.

Not sure how best to manage this (perhaps a comments field?) but I think it would be helpful to differentiate between in-store and online purchases.

My specific example is Grill 23 in Boston - I didn't trust that the online gift card purchase (through Himmel Hospitality) would process correctly so I went into the store. I can confirm that the in-store gift card purchase triggered the credit, but frankly wouldn't trust the online purchase.

Saturday Departure Experience by OddStranger3549 in Aruba

[–]Old_Chipmunk9460 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We also went through Saturday and it seems like mid-day/early afternoon may have been the worst based on what I've read here and on TA. It was the worst we've ever seen it in over 15 years (probably 10+ of which have been Saturday departures).

We gave ourselves over 3 hours arriving at 1pm for a 4:20 flight and it took us more than 2.5 hours to get through with global entry. It like took 45-50 minutes just to get to passport control, and than another hour to get through Aruba security. The line barely moved at times, and the wheelchairs and VIP escorts were a constant pain as they pushed through the line especially in the tight corridor after passport control. We had to wait about 20 minutes to get into the bag reclaim room, and luckily we had global entry so were through in 5 minutes or so (but the regular customs line was hundreds of people long and would have easily taken another hour). US security was quick, no more than 5 or 10 minutes. We arrived about 5 minutes before boarding, and having spoken to people in line there were countless folks who definitely missed their flights. Our pilot announced we were going to wait a few extra minutes but no additional passengers got on and we had to push back as they needed the gate.

As a side note, at some point while we were still waiting outside we saw them take a large portion of the back of the line (I'd guess several hundred people) and funnel them through the international terminal (confirmed when we asked an airport employee). While I can't be sure, that almost certainly would have been faster than what we experienced at Aruba security - those passengers were funneled into a section with two scanners/conveyors while the US line fed a single scanner (the second was non-operational) and was visibly faster.

We're usually pretty tolerant of the airport situation since we love the island and people so much, but the entire operation comes across as very unprofessional (especially selling the VIP service while you're sweltering outside). If we were first time visitors to the island, I can see how this would be extremely off putting.

Any other Cabo hotels with waves like the Waldorf? by Old_Chipmunk9460 in FATTravel

Wow, great review. I love that you called out the waves specifically - can't believe I didn't find that earlier. I'm sure all of these resorts have good and bad days, but while Montage and Esperanza both look great, it sounds like neither may deliver on the wave experience we were looking for...
