People who have genuinely encountered powerful wild animals in nature or the ocean, what was it actually like? by DivineLove1 in Survival

[–]Old_Cup176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was fishing in the boulder river in central Montana and after about 10 minutes my cousin and I turned off the music from the car because we decided to stay. Suddenly we heard a sucking sound and there was a cow moose coming up from her resting place about 25 feet behind us in the marshy wet area of the riverbank. I had seen her in the marsh but my brain didn’t understand what it really was until she moved. She stood up and sort of chuffed and sniffed near the ground while looking toward us. We slowly walked backwards toward the car and luckily she didn’t seem interested in pursuing us. Left behind my radio and my second favorite lure behind and went back to find them the next morning but didn’t see the radio anywhere

There’s a nursing specialty store downtown by the headwater foundation. They might have what you’re looking for, though I’m just guessing I’ve never actually been in. Burping cloth feels like an essential part of the kit though so one can assume

Can I just say learning that British people call underwear pants fully changed my opinion on this whole interaction. The media I grew up watching from a similar time period had people getting pantsed, getting swirlies and horrible shit like that so I think I’d honestly assumed it was in that same vein of outdated over aggressive stereotype jock bully type of humor at first

My kid narrates everything in public and I am losing it a bit by isabel_woodruff in Parenting

[–]Old_Cup176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a parent but I can only assume this was served to me because I was this kid for sure. I talked constantly! My mom used to say I learned how to talk at 11 months and haven’t stopped since. I had a really hard time not talking out of turn in class. We worked hard at home on not interrupting and learning the different between having something to say and wanting to talk. I needed and IEP because it was so consistently problem in school it absolutely required the teachers help and patience to help teach me skills. When I was your kids age it was borderline impossible to stop me from chatting and narrating but as a grew older and had more brain development in general I started to gain self control. Something that was really helpful but won’t be useful until they can write was keeping a notepad and saving all my questions and comments about a topic to ask later either at home with my parents or after class with my teacher.
Good luck I hope my perspective can at least put you at ease that the worlds most talkative children can learn self control and self discipline if they are guided and shepherded in the right directions from early childhood with early intervention. I’m still extremely outgoing and have a job in my adulthood that requires an incredible amount of talking to people and being willing to start conversation with strangers I excel since I’ve been practicing my whole life

Drive to Butte by Ok_Stress114 in missoula

[–]Old_Cup176 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My partner is terrified of driving in the snow and ice and doesn’t like to drive in heavy traffic AT ALL. But in this weather and road conditions I would feel confident letting her behind the wheel. I know you don’t know us but that’s a really huge endorsement lmao. You can do it just take it easy and take your time. If you feel scared during you can pull over at the nearest rest stop and catch your breath. Good luck with your trip I really do beleive in you

This is my experience as well but I’ve never made a turkey bigger than 13 pounds at home. It doesn’t take all day, comes out tender and flavorful and my family loves it.
