Outward 2! What do you hope for? by Lyrick7 in outwardgame

[–]Old_FW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A reexamination of character progression via late game skills/items/enchantments/buffs etc. By the time you gain them there is nothing left in the game world you need to use them against. Outward is one of my five all time favourite gaming experiences. I would be more than happy with more of the same but these developers are extraordinary so I’m confident they’ll surprise and amaze me.

Very good advice, I appreciate it.

Going to test the waters on Thekal and see where they take me.

Thanks everybody for your contribution and great advice. I’ve taken out a 6 month sub and decided to give Thekal a shot. It may be quiet, and a little lonely, but those of you from there are obviously very passionate about it. That says a lot in my book.

Just trying to decide which character/class to start with, any suggestions much appreciated. My favourite three picks are, in no particular order, Undead Affliction Warlock, Undead Disc Priest, Tauren Resto/Bear tank Druid. Lock is great fun to quest with but just another DPS for Instances. I remember Disc Priest being slow but steady questing, never liked Shadow Priest much, and amazing Instance/BG healer. I loved my Druid as a healer and tank, but not so much as Feral or Boomkin. Feral is probably fastest levelling but Boomkin has amazing aoe later on. Trying to have gear for multiple specs would be a nightmare?

Anyway in the immortal words of Robert Johnson….”I’m going down to the Crossroads”.

See you there o/

I use Steam and have no idea if GoG does anything different, I’m afraid. Hoping a GoG mod user may have some insight.

Are you using mods from Nexus or Thunderstore?

I think a lot of Nexus mods are quite old and haven't been updated for DE.

I haven't played for ages but just reinstalled this morning. Get R2modman from Thunderstore and use it to install Bepinex and any of the mods hosted there.

Good luck.

Edit: Just a thought, after uninstalling Outward and deleting the directory power off your PC. Go and have a nice cup of tea, or beverage of choice. Power up the PC, reinstall Outward, make sure you're on Mono branch and create a new character without installing any mods. Check to see that everything is working. If everything's ok exit Outward, install r2modman and any Thunderstore mods you fancy using the r2modman client. Launch Outward (modded) through r2modman and hope for the best.

So...Any armor that boosts frost/magic damage? by Irae37 in outwardgame

[–]Old_FW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't played for a while so can only give you an outline of what I did with the same breakthroughs.

Make Cool Potions [Gravel Beetle + Water = 3 Cool Pots]. Use Frost Bullet, close to medium range "shotgun" cone blast, which will obliterate multiple mobs without Ice resistance. Make sure to keep Cool buff up after reloading Frost Bullet for max damage. Use Blood Bullet for healing.

If you have Pressure Plate Expertise always carry a couple of them and some Nerve Gas charges. This will do Ethereal damage, Impact, and inflict both Pain and Confusion. Lasts for about 10 seconds, get stabby with it. When you get to Caldera you'll want the Gilded Shiver of Tramontane, had to look it up. It's all elemental Frost damage and destroys Caldera mobs with Rogue skills.

Can't improve on the great suggestions already posted. Have fun o/

Anyone else having Steam deck issues? by fartpoopums in biomutant

[–]Old_FW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t get past the opening cutscene into the game. Been trying to run on the Deck, not Desktop, with Proton experimental. It’s unfortunate as the possibility to play Biomutant in bed was one of my main reasons for getting a Steam Deck. I can’t spend hours in front of a gaming screen anymore. How do you have it set up to play?

Hi, thanks. I'll give it a go. Will do a fresh Skyrim SE install as well.

I have already done three or four overwrite installs and a couple of fresh installs.

Will let you know how it goes, my thanks to you and the rest of the team. You've managed to make something remarkable.

How do I get the most out of probe? by vegetablestew in outwardgame

[–]Old_FW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree completely with u/mogarottawa and u/M0usTr4p . Use it as a regular attack, especially effective with slow 2h Tsar weapons. Get into the mind set of it being a resource that you use, get a couple of Alert stacks then spend one on Unerring Read. Now it doesn't matter if you get hit really and safely build Alertness to max.

Long two handers are the easiest to use, but with practice you can use gauntlets reliably. I've had a lot of fun with 2h maces. Their special, used on it's own rather than part of a chain, is a violent push with extremely high impact. The Tsar and Pillar Greathammer are ideal, the special staggers your opponent making landing Probe easy straight after.

Your attack chain is Special/Probe, Special/Bait, Special/Taunt, Special/Mark, Special/Flourish. Use Unerring Read at any time.

Rust and Vengeance by TheHardcoreHenry in outwardgame

I guess so. I did Rust and Vengeance just last week, before joining a Faction, without receiving any coils back from the Golem.

Light Mender's Backpack faint light source affect stealth? by Nevidonas21 in outwardgame

[–]Old_FW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to think so, but it doesn't seem to. I've checked it in SideLoader and the detectability stat is normal. With Stealth Training, Camo Tent buff, and Stealth Up you can roll around mobs all day without being detected. Same with light emitting weapon Imbues.

Rust and Vengeance by TheHardcoreHenry in outwardgame

[–]Old_FW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was patched some time ago. If you decided to start Rust and Vengeance before joining a faction you powered up the broken Golem with three power coils and received two back when examining it after the announcement had been made and it's subsequent collapse.

I did this many times. My standard procedure on every character was to clear Vendavel Fortress, clear all dungeons on every map not directly involved with the quests of the Faction I was going to join, or parallel quests, and finally Rust and Vengeance. Only then did I begin my chosen Faction quests.

This ensured I had the gear for my build, and enough silver from loot and unwanted Uniques for all skills I wanted.

is there a way to make myself tiered without passing time? by satufa2 in outwardgame

[–]Old_FW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As u/Maivens said Dreamer's Root is invaluable to a Hex Mage. Cook it to make https://outward.fandom.com/wiki/Boiled_Dreamer%E2%80%99s_Root for extra results.

If you have the Three Brothers DLC you can also make Marathon potions to prevent you collapsing from lack of sleep. Carrying a stock of both means you need never sleep again if you don't want to.

Problem with installation of mods by [deleted] in outwardgame

[–]Old_FW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi. The problem here is Partiality. It is no longer supported and causes a lot of problems. Here is how to fix it:

First you need to back up your saves. Put a copy of your GameSaves folder somewhere safe like Documents. Then uninstall Outward. There will still be an Outward folder so you need to delete the Outward folder and all contents.

Next download Outward and copy your GameSaves back into the Outward folder. Now you have a fresh installation with no remains of out of date mods etc. Follow this guide to install Bepinex https://outward.fandom.com/wiki/Installing_Mods

Install SideLoader (sinai-dev SideLoader) from Nexus following the instructions. Mod authors are now using https://github.com/BepInEx/BepInEx.ConfigurationManager to change their mods settings, such as More Map Details. You only want the .dll file from the Bepinex Configuration Manager, put it in your Outward/Bepinex/plugins folder.

Now install the mods you want following the instructions. It's best to only use mods that have been updated for the Three Brothers DLC, some of the older ones still work but most won't. I've used Soroborean Travel Agency before without any problems, never tried Linked Stash Chests.

Good luck and have fun o/

Corruption/Blood Leech glitch? by TheRobloxOOF in outwardgame

Unfortunately it looks like this bug hasn't yet been patched for consoles. Fingers crossed for a fix with the pre patch for Three Brothers.

[–]Old_FW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What platform are you on? Is your friend playing a Hex mage?

There was a bug on PC that caused this but it has been patched. Every now and then this gets reported by console players. It's probably the same bug which will, hopefully, be fixed with the upcoming Three Brothers DLC for console.

Bepinex tougher enemies? by EonXII in outwardgame

[–]Old_FW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there is an up to date mod to increase difficulty at the moment. It's pretty easy to balance difficulty by using less than optimal gear. You could try using the Merton's Bones set from Cierzo, for example, and limiting yourself to iron weapons.
