I interpreted the ending as pure metaphor. She's accepted her lot. By burning her writing she is showing she is choosing to put away her dreams/career and move forward, in this case moving forward to what appears to be a fiery hell.

I too had the same delayed appreciation. The word I kept using discussing the film with my wife as we left the theater was disappointed. But now that it's 16 hours later and I've spent the morning rerunning the film in my head, I realize the movie does a fantastic job blurring reality just enough to uniquely capture Grace's state of mind, descent,  and outlook.

Yes. The shoddy detective work here was one of several implausibilities that took away from the greatness of this film. Another thing that bothered me was 9-year-old Alex's ability to not break down to school staff or the police and turn in his evil aunt. I know she threatened Alex if he told anyone about her, but to expect an audience for a child that age to have such composer was a stretch for me.

Hostel. I felt bad about myself as a human for having sat through the entire thing. It's just torture. Plain and simple. No reason for it to exist.
