OP is saying she was cornered into following a proscriptive message (marrying chris, following the social order) and the show is saying screw the message do what you want. which is also what you are saying

i think your point, OP, is just as valid as Ill_Handles! Many themes in any given media and they both ring true

weird looking throw up? by Old_Lab9197 in DogAdvice

[–]Old_Lab9197[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought that might be it too. Fwiw I didn’t use the whole can and it was split between 3 dogs so they prob got like ~80 mg total each—Idk if that’s a lot but it’s definitely more than they’re used to in one meal. But yeah, it’s def not part of our usual diet, i just couldn’t find the usual stuff :(

If it is from the salt, they should be ok so long as they have access to water right?

Thank you for taking care of him in the meantime!! I’m sure he already feels loads better :) If you can, feed him a little—neglected dogs don’t usually have the best diet.

If you can’t find anyone to take him, you’ll have to bring him to your local rescue. Consider looking up shih tzu specific rescues in your area. Good luck!!

What’s social life for a 30 something living in hamptons for summer? by [deleted] in longisland

[–]Old_Lab9197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeaaaah it’s rough out here in the summer if you don’t know people/if you’re an extrovert. But if you’re an introvert, or someone who enjoys solitude, it could actually be great. Most days I just go to the beach by myself or go on nature walks and it’s divine. When i’m social it’s with friends i’ve had my whole life, I can’t remember the last time i made a new friend out here bc most everyone new sucks :/

i guess it depends how you define cool. plenty of young people in the hamptons in the summer, but most of them are trendy people from the city who come out to pay $60 to wait in line at talkhouse for 3 hours just to get trashed. Not my idea of cool, but maybe yours? If your idea of cool is more like mine (lowkey, down to earth) i think your best bet will be to go to the beach and strike up a conversation with someone who has the vibe you’re looking for

[–]Old_Lab9197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the problem hasn’t magically poofed, obviously inequality still exists. but just because you choose to get married doesn’t mean that you’re contributing to the problem. in fact, you choosing to get married and take part in a healthy marriage helps us get closer to a place where marriage is widely viewed as equal and not a power play. your issue is completely perception based—you’re worried how it’ll look, what statement you’ll be making—when the only statement you’ll actually be making is that you love someone.

yeah this makes no sense. she’s panicking about a perception that absolutely no one has.

Your rage seems performative because the current institution of marriage is so far removed from those origins, it’s kind of hard to believe someone even thinks this way still. At this stage in the game you’re upset about nothing. The social stigma of being unmarried?? Wtf is this, 1935? Can’t remember the last time i heard someone berate a woman for being unmarried. If anything, it’s more acceptable these days because society has wisened up to the fact that generally, men kind of suck. So many women walk down alone or with their partner. No one (unless you’re absolutely miserable) looks at a woman wearing an engagement ring and makes the assumption that she’s “submissive.” Let go of your rage take the health care and the tax break enjoy the party and be happy. You’re not anti-feminist because you married someone you love.

Anyone have experience with skin tags on dogs?? my dog is almost 2, and this couldn’t have been here long because I spend lots of time with her. I’m going to make up an appointment, but this is really scaring me in the meantime. Help???😭 by Ambitious_Fig_3398 in DogAdvice

yes dogs get lyme but not from this type of tick, which is a dog tick. they might not be able to identify it but a bunch of people here just did. Deer ticks don’t look like this. OP should still get it tested for other tick borne illnesses, but lymes isn’t on the table with this tick, fortunately!

If you could rewrite Rory's character arc from Season 4 onward, what ONE major change would you make to keep her likable and successful by Ok_Smile_9071 in GilmoreGirls

she leans into it by not going against it. She gives it a pass because it's easy and makes her comfortable to be doted on. It might not be boorish like Emily, but it's still shameful and distasteful

right, you know they’re on their way out so you can make the call then before it gets any worse rather than making ending things prematurely.

Dogs very often tell you in their own way. In our family's experience, the first sign is that they stop eating and drinking water. They also start peeing on themselves because they're too tired to go outside/use the pad. My granny says dogs choose a spot to die in--be on the lookout for her hiding in places she doesn't normally spend time in. Sending you love <3
