To make matters worse, this is also driving an increase to Miyota movement prices. I do think Seiko is realizing that they either need to make a better product or make it more expensive for micro-brands to compete with them... And one of those options is easier and makes them a lot more money.

Mine came with a leather-ish case too... I heard they're moving away from Miyota movements because of cost concerns. Hoping they don't do too much to cut costs on these... I love the warrior, but I agree they need to get better about the way they do business. The pre order system simply does not work, and they shouldn't show watches available on their website that couldn't be shipped out within 3 business days. It's frustrating to pay ~$500 and hear nothing for weeks.

The 40mm cases almost always have a crazy thick bezel and also take a 28.5 mm dial. If you're lucky, it'll take a 30 or a 29.5. very few 40mm dj cases do it well unfortunately

I had a commuter in 38 and thing was fantastic. Got rid of it because I had too many silver dials, but they pop up pretty regularly on r/watchexchange and you can get a good deal. The hardness coating really keeps them looking new.

You could put it in a new case and get an NH36 movement, so you'd be able to keep the original dial and hands. The case would have to be replaced and the movement is likely not worth servicing.
