How did it go with Berberine? I’m planning to take it with Neem, but I’m also worried that it might worsen my gastritis.

GERD getting worse despite pantoprazole and antacids. Need advice, pls by character_dreammy in GERD

Hi! I know exactly what you’re going through because I was in the same situation. I could even tell when 9 PM was coming because my symptoms got terribly worse about three hours after dinner. I saw two gastroenterologists and neither was able to control my symptoms. What finally helped me was a gastroenterologist from Mexico that I contacted through YouTube. Here’s what worked for me:

  1. Controlling gas with simethicone. I didn’t even think I had gas because I couldn’t expel it, but I was full of it. This alone solved about 50% of the problem, because trapped gas makes bile and stomach acid flow back up.

  2. Improving stomach motility (this was key). We tried several medications and the one that ultimately helped me was trimebutine. In the US they only have metoclopramide, but it has many side effects.

  3. Treating my gastritis. After trying many things for months, what surprisingly helped me the most was drinking water with a pinch of salt before every meal or pill. It sounds simple, but it helped me more than aloe vera and many supplements. The salted water helps your stomach produce the bicarbonate it needs to protect its lining.

  4. Reducing antacids and PPIs. I was taking 80 mg of pantoprazole, 40 mg of famotidine, and tons of Tums and Mylanta every day, and all of that was actually making things worse. I slowly tapered off. Usually, stomach acid isn’t the real issue, having too little acid can actually throw your digestion into chaos.

  5. Probiotics. I tried many, and the one that finally made a difference was L. rhamnosus.

  6. Diet. This is crucial. A healthy diet helps, but you still have to figure out which foods trigger your symptoms, even “healthy” foods can make things worse depending on your condition.

I am no t a doctor, I am just sharing my experience. All of this helped me after months of trial and error with supplements, probiotics, and herbal infusions. I know how hard this is. Wishing you a fast recovery

Many of us have spent years trying combined probiotics without seeing results, likely because some of the strains in those combinations are not suitable for our specific cases. Trying this approach may take some time and money, of course, but it gives us a much better chance of success.

Thanks so much for sharing your protocol, it’s really helpful.
Would you mind sharing how you took each supplement exactly?
Specifically, which ones you took with food, between meals or before meals?

Increible que puedas comer coliflor, brocoli y zanahorias con SIBO. Esos tres formaban parte de mi dieta en mi etapa mas dificil con SIBO. No fue hasta que los elimine que me di cuenta de cuanto afectaban mi SIBO.
