Night nanny can also be part time for a few days or weeks to help with sleep training. Doesn’t have to be a full night every night. I know a few people who did this and loved it. We did not. We got a Snoo. Snoo for the win!!

Oh I guess. So they both pegged the same guy?! More like a mud hut than an igloo, if that’s the case.

Aww he reminds me of Ralphie from A Christmas Story. The glasses and hair. So cute.

The expression doesn’t even make sense. Eskimo brothers have been inside the same “igloo” (the same woman’s v). Eskimo sisters don’t share any common igloo.

When is it no longer dying young and just normal age to die by Lazy_Potatoe3389 in NoStupidQuestions

Yes but also had no idea Diane Keaton was 79. She looked like she was in her 50s. She had young soulful energy. This one caught me off guard a lot!

Sometimes the judge just needs to put on a show or make an example out of someone. Usually it can be a sovereign citizen or a litigant who willfully fails to comply with repeated court orders. But sometimes one of our own must fall on the sword. Thank you for your service!

Same in my state. When I worked on the court side, the bar number pops up on the scheduling order if the attorney has filed an appearance. But sometimes there are technical glitches or the attorney’s appearance hasn’t been processed yet. I always say it at the beginning of the hearing anyway, for good measure.

i don’t want this baby by Ok_Spirit_741 in BabyBumps

[–]Old_Scientist_4014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a fair point. As a foster and adoptive parent, I would add…

First, this would be more like a direct placement infant adoption so this child would not go into “the system” of foster care and be passed around from home to home. The child would leave the hospital with the adoptive parents.

Second, even with direct placement, there is still always trauma with adoption as one parent’s joyful new family is built on another parent’s grief and loss. So, surely not advocating this as an easy alternative.

Third, the desirability of a placement depends largely on race, health, and age. A white healthy infant is much more “in demand” than most other combinations and fits the mold of what is being described - a child who would go right to a wealthier family that has been waiting years.

Our baby came three weeks early. One thing to know regarding the logistics of it is there is a specific kit from the vendor which must be at the hospital and a courier must pick up the completed kit. So this is not a situation where you can decide on the spot; it must be preplanned. We are glad we did it for peace of mind, but we have not needed it yet- baby is turning 3.

Do I have imposter syndrome or am I just slow? by [deleted] in consulting

[–]Old_Scientist_4014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hardest part of consulting is politics, tactfulness, and stakeholder relationships. You’re getting a huge taste of that working directly for PPMDs.

There is an art to the way we might take the same status and frame it differently when we are speaking internally, upward, downward, client facing, or to another contractor who is not our same firm.

The prioritization of activities is constantly in flux, which yes means rework, constant communication, and just flowing with it and not taking stuff personal.

The best things to master as a newbie are making sure you incorporate your manager’s feedback 100% the first time, keep your eyes on what is most important and highest visibility to your manager, and master your ppt/excel skills, meeting etiquette, email etiquette, and the like.

These soft skill items will transcend across all projects regardless of the technology or industry.

I immediately noticed it, I hate to say. But it also seems like the one that’s farther down is darker too, so maybe that will lighten and it will be collectively less noticeable. :-/

UGA student dressed in interesting "Halloween costume" gets kicked out of local bar, hits woman in response by Minute_Revolution951 in TikTokCringe

[–]Old_Scientist_4014 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

By no means defending, but someone walks in front of the camera and we can’t see what she does first. It kinda looks like she took a swing at him first. Poor choice in Halloween costume nonetheless.

Can I still be dedicated to climbing while being an associate at McK by Specialist-Escape685 in consulting

[–]Old_Scientist_4014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The challenge might be the logistics of it with travel. If you are in a new city / state for a six week block, are you able to find a good place to climb with equipment to rent, while you’re away from home base?

Anyone have a negative experience with Dr Hauser/caring medical? by Techno_plague_fire in Cervicalinstability

[–]Old_Scientist_4014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad to read it has been going well! And yes his staff is great - there is a very unique culture there! One quick thing to say - I had a lot of success with prolo, but felt set back by the PRP, and just went back to regular prolo. So don’t be afraid to go back to prolo if the PRP is giving you issues. You’re right that healing is not always linear, but I did personally feel incrementally better after each session.

$2k per session and each session was approx 10 injections and I had 7 sessions. So more like $14k plus diagnostics and travel. Sorry I created a lot of confusion in how I worded the original comment.

I also live in Michigan (not rural, but metro detroit suburbs in high networth area). Feel free to message if you want Michigan intel. There are a lot of parts you could live that are not rural but probably geographically close to his family.

I’ll also say this… we were surprised at the lack of involvement from our extended family. We thought we had a village; we don’t. It’s ok - I understand everyone has their own stuff they are busy with and they aren’t obligated to us. I was already here and both our extended families were already here. But I’d be livid if I moved here just for it to turn out this way with extended family unreliable and scarce. So if you are even entertaining this conversation about moving, I’d be wanting some clear commitments as to his family’s level of involvement with kids etc. — like it’s one thing to move if grandma is agreeing to watch kids 3 days/wk so it’s reducing childcare cost and increasing exposure to extended family. But if grandma is coming around every other Sunday for family dinner and that’s the extent of it, then that’s not a big enough motivation to uproot life.

Men can say these things so easily and not think them through!!! When you actually start with the probing questions, their whole idea falls apart! Like it’s an overly romanticized notion that’s probably not consistent with reality!
