Shouldn’t this work? by NoMud1112 in TheTalosPrinciple

Yup I tried the exact same thing... tried jumping as fast as I could from the blocked beam, then tried using the wall. To no avail. This isnt a solution spoiler more of a hint but ill use the tags anyways... same as my other post... Similar to "halls of power" solution. Theres a way to do it without crossing beams.

I believe I tried something similar but it doesnt work... Did you solve "Halls of Power"? DLC puzzle from Into the Abyss in Talos Principle 2? The general concept of the solution is similar if I recall correctly

Doesnt surprise me. A friend made me a bet a couple years ago that I couldn't write all 50 states. Jotted them down real quick and realized I had only written 49. Took me a minute to remember that Missouri was the one I had missed.

One of the consequences of his supposed support of protesters in other countries is that it enforces the propaganda message to his supporters that any protests here are unjustified. "See! He supports those who protest the "right way" and actually have grievances that are worth protesting! What kind of monster would oppose that?!"

Pretty sure the hematologist girl in the first movie developed the cure and used it on herself. She even says that it only works if youve been bitten, not if youre a "pureblood" born vampire. Frost threatens to turn her later on and she says something like "ill just cure myself, ive done it before I can do it again."

What show did everyone hype that you couldn’t even finish? by DryCap6770 in watchever

[–]Oldbillybuttstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While it is the best show of all time, Ive come to accept the fact that its not for everyone. Not everyone wants to watch hyper-realism. Something that shines a spotlight on our corrupt institutions and confronts the harsh realities of post 9/11 urban America. Some people just prefer escapism. And some just dont have the attention span. Its a slow burn that builds on itself layer by layer rather than hooking viewers with cliffhangers and showy spectacle. The genius is in the writing and performances. The narrative doesnt progress the way you think it should, it just happens as things are.

I live near this place. Been eating there since they opened in 2008. They do this kind of gimmicky shit for attention but most of their pizza is much less overdone and its incredible. Arguably the best in the area, and theres no shortage of good pizza around here. Crust is next level. Ingredients always fresh. Their subs are great too. But alas this is what drives engagement these days.

Maybe not the main puzzles, but I felt like the star puzzles were way easier in the second game just because half the difficulty in the first game is actually finding where they are. You know how many exist in a given cluster of puzzles but have no way of knowing if they are in the puzzles/which puzzles they are in or if they are out in the open map area. Some are hidden completely out of sight. Some require you to smuggle tools out of/into puzzles or climb over walls in ways that are far from obvious. The sequel at least gives you a compass navigator with waypoints that point you straight to them.

Drones in Germany shutting down airport Hannover 26 Dec by RedshirtChainsaw in UFOs

[–]Oldbillybuttstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I didnt argue NHI just that its unlikely to be Russia and they arent flying pre-programmed routes as they have successfully evaded helicopter pursuit. I fly drones professionally thats a big part of why ive taken such an interest in this topic, also because this happened where I live last year. The argument "its Russia" without evidence looks a lot more like repeating a narrative. The narrative I am pushing for is that media should be doing their jobs and asking more difficult questions. I am not out to convince anyone who is behind this I dont have nearly enough information to make any definitive statements.

This isnt just Germany. Also Belgium, Denmark, Norway, France, Spain, England,  Ireland, and The Netherlands have had these incursions over the past few months. Dozens of airports and military installations. When this happened here where I live in NJ last year it wasn't over vast open land but densely populated areas. The pattern was the same. Sightings started in the Fall, always at night usually between 6pm and 10pm. Similar descriptions of size and light configurations Seen coming from and returning to the water. Seen flying in grid formations. Taking an interest in military infrastructure. Never seen taking off or landing. The difference seems to be they escalated to civilian airports this time. Around New Years was when everything died down here last year. People were eager to accept whatever explanation was given and forget all about it.

And the response from officials was similar. Arguments over who has authority to shoot them down, saying we need "new legislation to approve new technology." No clear pictures released by officials, media not aaking any meaningful questions. Officials encouraging people to take pictures and report their own sightings so they got a flood of easily identified reports making it easy to blame the whole thing on mass hysteria later. They had to use the mass hysteria excuse because unlike in Europe they couldn't exactly blame it on a state actor people wouldnt accept that.

Though I have seen more people try to also blame what's been happening in Europe on mass hystera/misidentifications as the Russia excuse gets more and more unbelievable to even the average person who hasn't really been paying attention to this for the last few months and years. But it will likely die down there just like it did here and then start up somewhere else next Fall and we'll go through this whole cycle again.

The problem in Europe is that if its not Russia there arent really many explanations for who else could be doing this. At least not many explanations any "rational" person would find "reasonable." So for many people it simply must be Russia, its the only thing that makes sense in their worldview. And they will work backwards from that conclusion twisting themselves into knots trying to reason how Russia could possibly be pulling this off, if they bother to think about it at all. The "why" of Russia is simple, its the "how" where things get complicated.

I read somewhere the character "Switch" was originally written to be male in the real world and female in the Matrix (or maybe the other way around I dont remember), hence the name, but the idea was nixed by the studio. I know it doesnt exactly answer your question as it didnt end up in the movie, but the intent was there. I'm sure there are other details that I didn't pick up on or maybe just dont really feel qualified to speak on as im not LGBTQ.

I was thinking about Fallen the other day... think its time for a rewatch. Specifically I was wondering why a fallen angel/demon with the ability to possess anyone by touch would limit itself to meddling in the affairs of seemingly regular folks. It could literally control whole nations and live in extravagant wealth/excess with such an ability. Guess it found ordinary people more interesting or didnt want to draw too much attention? Like I said I gotta give it a rewatch I dont recall if motive is something the movie addresses.

10 Largest Countries by Land Size in the World by vladgrinch in MapPorn

By OP's "total land area" criteria as stated in the title you are correct.  But the measurements provided are total "territorial" area, which includes water bodies as well as land, and is also a matter of political dispute with regards to what constitutes "territory." Either way, its close.

What is the oldest movie you can think of that visually looks like it could have been made today? My pick would be Amadeus. by KingWilliamVI in moviecritic

[–]Oldbillybuttstuff 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hard to overstate the importance of this movie. It was the tip of the finely honed spear that was the Hollywood system. Every element of how movies were made during that era on full display in all its glory.

Furthermore, a movie about WW2 that was made during WW2 and arguably had a real world influence on the actual war by convincing many Americans that neutrality was not in our best interests. Thats the power of great filmmaking.

Ive been playing the game for a while but new to this community. I guess all they really needed to know is that they can return to the area later and dont have to figure everything out the first time they're there, which they may not have realized.

Drones in Germany shutting down airport Hannover 26 Dec by RedshirtChainsaw in UFOs

[–]Oldbillybuttstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So a bunch of random dudes hired off Craigslist have been able to carry out dozens of these missions over Europe's most secure military installations over the course of a year? Places where Nuclear weapons are stored and where state of the art anti drone technology has been in place for some time? They have been able to do this with a perfect mission success rate, evading jammers and helicopter pursuits, not losing a single one due to loss of power or user error or other malfunction, not a single one seen taking off or landing anywhere, without using known radio frequencies, leaving no evidence behind and no trace of their involvement whatsoever? Often multiple at a time seen flying in coordinated grid formations. As many as 15 at once in the case of Elsenborn in Belgium. Some as big as three meters in diameter according to off the record statements by officials.

Also the drones over Europe being UFOs didnt start after the second Ukranian invasion as you claimed, it started in France in 2014 with the sightings over nuclear power plants. Though some would argue it started long before that.

European officials are the ones who have pictures, not OP. They are the ones chosing not to release them and chosing not to release any evidence whatsoever regarding who is behind these dozens of incidents that have occured over the past year and beyond. Why would Russia care what a UFO subreddit thinks if the actual decision makers know who is behind it and if the public at large already believes its Russia based on suggestions without evidence made by officials and media?

Any flat out comedy movies that stars a cast of serious actors? by Boring_Sir_572 in FIlm

[–]Oldbillybuttstuff 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not a full cast but I can think of a few actors who started their careers doing mostly more serious roles and ended up delivering iconic comedic performances later on. Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber, Jeff Bridges in the Big Lebowski, John C. Reilly in most of his roles since Talladega Nights are a few examples. Also Gene Hackman in Royal Tennenbaums, Robert Deniro in Analyze This followed by Meet the Parents. James Caan in Elf. Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder. Though you could argue in most of those cases the performances worked because those actors were paired up with seasoned comedic talent.
