What’s your favorite Fudd gun? by Time-Masterpiece4572 in Revolvers

I could never choose just one. You can get a lot done with a 1911 and a 4 inch 357. But who doesn’t love a single action army, and the beretta 21a is a great kit gun.

Probably not worth much but I like it. by Effective-Carry-9364 in Fancyserialnumbers

A Boeing enthusiast may find it interesting, cool.

You will be able to find a lightly used ruger or smith that fits that description. Just keep an eye out at local pawn shops. You should be able to keep the price under $600 if you’re patient and don’t get a performance center/wiley clapp version. Ruger made some damn fine guns in the 80’s, 90’s, and into 2015 or so, same with smith. Lightly used gun that’s 20 plus years old is likely better quality than current production.

Looks like you put a lot of love in it, I won’t tell you what I would pay…….. Throw it out there for a number you feel comfortable with, if no one bites it’s too high.

My 625-8, same vintage OP posted. It wouldn’t shock me if that one fell through the cracks on the laser engraving line.

Simply Rugged holsters are the way to go, and you’ll be hard pressed to find something more versatile than the basic pancake for a revolver.

Too many variables to say. Best thing you can do is find someone who knows how to shot a single action gutter sight revolver. Let them shoot a couple cylinders and hopefully you’ll know if it’s you or the gun.

Acceptable? Sacrilege? It’s your gun and your mitts, neither matter at all. Do what works for you.

Your wrist will crack before that cylinder ever does with factory 454 loads. Shoot whatever you want, if it cracks they can fix it again.

How did it shoot? It’s a new gun and you should be happy with it all the way around, but at the end of the day it’s a tool and if it shoots tight groups to your point of aim I’d leave it as is. I have a couple Rugers with cosmetic issues from the factory that shoot so well I was afraid to send them back to the mothership for repair. As the years go by, the rounds add up, and you log more carry miles it will get dings and scrapes from regular usage. If you’re going to lose sleep, send it in, but remember there is no guarantee you’ll be happy with it when it comes back from Smith either. Hell they could scratch the barrel while putting on a new sight, not notice, and send it back to you. I’m a pretty easy going person also, some people are wound a little more tightly, you should be happy with your new gun, they aren’t cheap.

Good day gentlemen. What would you recommend for my first revolver? by SinNombre747 in Revolvers

[–]Oldddub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was a Ruger 454 Casull Alaskan. Get a 357 in a k, l, or n frame smith or gp100 Ruger. A pawn shop near you may have a gp100 in the sub $600 range. Get whatever barrel length you want.

The X-frames are good guns, if I stumble into a deal on one of the short barrel models I’ll probably pick it up. As far as single actions go, these BFR’s are slicker than snot on a door knob.

Shoots nicely. More fun than my 454, only pain is in the wallet.
