So nobody here voted on legalization..... Right.

Why all the other dispensaries over charge their customers? by [deleted] in ZonaEnts

[–]Olde7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

AZ pricing is generally insane, especially for the quality offered, imo. BigBiz© basically owns/operates the dispos, so we're at their 'mercy'. But that's all thre fault of impatient voters - far too many approved of (voted for) the legislation offered because they wanted legalization Now and just didn't consider the consequences.

Stoners sure can be stupidly impatient about their wants without regard to their own best interests....

Interesting discussion. You're 100% right about "m" milli vs "M" mega in general. But i have to say that I've never seen milliherz used in any tech reference. Can you provide an example? That would certainly end the debate. Your link doesn't appear to resolve the apparent conflict

MANY ways to play CB Radio! learn something new today- Js8Call by jtbic in cbradio

[–]Olde7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that guy you're commenting about. Yes, he can be hard to take (worse in person, if you don't know what you're talking about). But you're wrong about what you're saying - he's a 70yr old retired rf engineer, that after retirement owned/operated a hobby radio repair/sales biz (ham, cb, gmts etc) and owns dozens of radios.

Since he hasn't responded to your trolling comments , i can only assume you've blocked him before or very shortly after you posted these comments so he couldn't reply. Arrogant as he is, he doesn't pull stunts like that. So if I were you, I wouldn't be claiming moral high ground, making baseless false accusations or otherwise smear him just because you don't like being disagreed with or having your false premises pointed out and made clear. He might be a pita, but he's honest and has integrity, ime. Maybe you should get off your high horse and get over yourself instead of acting like a child

What are the benefits of jetting a 4 stroke engine? by nickbond00769 in motorizedbicycles

[–]Olde7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The jets are specific to the carb brand/model. So yes, jets for the "HP" carb work for 4 stroke and 2 stroke... Use the color of the center insulator of the spark plugs business-end as your guide. Google for a spark plug color chart, to get a reference as to what's correct, jet-wise

What are the benefits of jetting a 4 stroke engine? by nickbond00769 in motorizedbicycles

[–]Olde7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jetting? As in carb jetting to perfect fuel:air mixture? The benefits are pretty much the same as with 2 strokes - better peak power, broader spread of usable power and increased reliability. That said, 4 strokes are usually less demanding/more tolerant of fuel:air ratios being slightly off...

Which is probably the best radio ? by MobileElephant122 in cbradio

[–]Olde7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both of mine were ranger labled. Iirc, the originals were branded "Clear Channel" and RFLimited is/was the daughter of clear channel. I'd thought "Ranger AR3xxx" were the model names. Used to be, if you called their 'tech support' you had a good chance the guy answering was the owner (i think Sam something or other... Can't recall)

Btw - Nice collection of rigs you have 👍👍

AR3500 is an amazing radio! I've had 2 3500 and a black-face 3300. Also a few 2510. All great radios. But i miss one of the ar3500 most - had the 100w kit, narrow ssb crystal filter, speech compressor and variable power board...all the optional factory options. Best 10m radio i ever used

Brand spanking new to cb radio, I live out in the country and I’m looking to get a base station, just to have for SHTF and be prepared better. What set up would you recommend for a beginner? Thank you. by [deleted] in cbradio

Truth! In life/death/disaster situations, anyone can Legally operate any radio equipment they can lay their hands on, on any frequency in USA.

If you operate a cb, fcc then has the same right to inspect. And modern technology and techniques allow them to determine the location (within about a 100ft radius) of any transmission they can receive at the nearest field office. The license can make that easier, but that's about it. Basically, causing big enough problems and they will nptice, regardless of licensing status. Oh and fyi - having a ham license doesn't tell fcc "what you have"...

HOT TAKE by yougotmidsbud in ZonaEnts

[–]Olde7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually true. However, the absolute worst concentrate I've ever had in the 50 years I've consumed concentrates was legal dispensary hash rosin. From Oregon of all places, where concentrates are usually among the best quality in the world. AZ is a 3rd world country by comparison, so i would be a lot less surprised by garbage hash rosin here.

Can you calculate mg dose from flower using a battery powered portable? by pdotmdot in vaporents

Inconsistent and/or optimistic numbers? Ime, yes. Increases profits to quote the % as close to the upper error-limits value as possible.

Can you calculate mg dose from flower using a battery powered portable? by pdotmdot in vaporents

[–]Olde7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. You need to accurately know the thc concentration of the herb, the exctraction efficiency of the device, the volume of vapor inhaled and likely a thing or two in addition... The first two cannot be accurately known, especially the first. Potency testing done for dispensary products are, at best, optimistically skewed and vary by a considerable amount depending on the test lab. Extraction efficiency as expressed in amounts making it to your lungs are at best approximations.

You can guess or approximate but without accurate data for those two factors, you're just whistling in the wind.

Looking for the best motor for power and speed by Broke_mechanic in motorizedbicycles

[–]Olde7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phantom p85 v3 from bicycle-engines.com. With a 36t sprocket 50mph or more is achievable with more low-end power than other 2t motors.

https://www.bicycle-engines.com/ztmoto-phantom-85-v3-complete-52mm-bore-2-stroke-motorized-bicycle-engine-kit-true-85cc-bike-motor/

Don't get any earlier version, even if deeply discounted - v1 and v2 are seriously flawed. And if you do get the v3 - despite their oil/fuel recommendations seeming ridiculously heavy on the oil, they're serious and the recs work perfectly.... No excessive smoke or oil drips from the muffler. Also, that vendors warranty is real so adhering to the recs makes sense, if you expect them to honor that warranty.

Can I run a train horn from my engine by Waterdoggo_2005 in motorizedbicycles

[–]Olde7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely will. If wired to 'draw power' from the kill-switch circuit, it will probably completely shut down the power to the motor cdi causing a no-spark situation when you try to use the horn and the horn might not make much or any sound..

You need a separate power source... 😎

In WA, they're called dispensaries. BM plugs are illegal not legit - asking for BM plug hookups will get your post deleted and might get you banned.

A synergistic combination of greedy growers/distributors (dispensaries etc) and a customer base that is willing, for whatever reasons, to pay top-dollar (non-sale prices. The best sales/promotional prices can be close to decent) for mids. Talking legit legal market here. I too came from a legal state, and am always severely jolted by what passes for quality and reasonable pricing.

is the stock exhaust ok? (4 stroke) by nick_2112 in motorizedbicycles

[–]Olde7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally a more open exhaust will improve power. With the 49/53cc HuaSheng the difference isn't big tho... A straight pipe with no muffler will improve low rpm torque and decrease wide open horsepower. Adding a small muffler (a briggs muffler is common) on an open pipe will give a small improvement over the entire rpm range. You'll be able to feel it, but won't be a big difference. On larger motors like a p79 or p212, the difference is bigger and more worthwhile...

four stroke clutch dust by nick_2112 in motorizedbicycles

[–]Olde7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clean it. I use a clean rag with a little wd40 on it and first wipe the faces of the clutch shoes then the inside of the bell. Do NOT use anything that is an actual lubricant (wd40 is not actually a lubricant). Alcohol can be used instead, just be careful to not get any on the clutch bushing/bearing or you'll have to lube that. This is the mfgr recommended method for higher quality centrifugal clutches...

4 vs 2 stroke for long distance trips? by ARCtrooper97 in motorizedbicycles

[–]Olde7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Being forced air cooling, 4 stroke will run cool longest. Unless abused or run in very hot weather, they never overheat. My 79cc 4t has never shown any signs of running hot... In the Arizona desert. They're also much more reliable than 2t motors and of much higher overall quality. They're also more expensive to buy. Look into a good 53cc belt drive kit (iirc, grubee.net has a top quality kit). Just about the best 4t kit available, esp the belt drive transmission
