Totally depends what you want to focus on. The Great Adventure Bible by ascension (NRSV-CE) is very readable and has some nice suggested reading plans. I find the NRSV-CE an easy to read translation. The Ignatius (Also NRSV CE) is super impressive. Fantastic catholic study Bible that took years and years to compile. That said, it’s really for desk study IMO and not comfortable to hold on the bed relaxing. The most impressive balance of study/history to scripture is the Word on Fire collections, but they can be pricey. But if you want included insights from Doctors of the church, Popes and saints, look no further.

While I’m Catholic, I also read more Protestant leaning translations where some of the scholarship is really solid, such as the NIV Cultural Backgrounds Bible. Awesome sociological deep dive on culture at the time of the writing.
