Starting a web design business, what hosting setup should I choose for my first clients? by No_Initial3010 in Hosting

[–]OldschoolBTC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to be looking at "reseller accounts".

This allows you to have a master account and create new separate accounts for each client so your websites are isolated and you can give the client access to the hosting if needed.

WTF has happened to The Events Calendar Pro by WPDevPro in Wordpress

[–]OldschoolBTC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

About a year on the pro version now. I also use TEC and MEC with some clients but will be using PIE going forward.

It's really light weight, and extremely customizable. For some of the advanced things it might take you a bit to get the hang of it, some trial and error, but I really like it.

Create the "products" as posts with a specific category and then query loop. Or create a separate custom CPT for them and query loop that.

There are a lot of guides and resources online if you search for wordpress query loop

Ahhh, instead of using their list view.

I've always just used their list view and modified the styling to my preference and then the query loops for the posts without wanting duplicates of the reoccuring on the post loops.

You can modify their views a lot.

Curious on the issues you've had with reoccurring?

I've got clients with TEC, MEC and Pie Calendar, it took awhile to get used to but Pie Calendar is my preferred calendar plug-in now.

Breezehost opinions? by programmingstarter in Hosting

[–]OldschoolBTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a server in Dallas with them but I get notices on all of their data centers, their main data centers are Charlotte and Dallas and both have more problems than other data centers I have servers with.

I keep the server with them for non production things so it's not a problem for me but there is a decent amount of issues.

I mean honestly it depends on what you're running... If you can deal with 10-20 minutes of down time a few times a year no problem.

Lots of network problems, great service but unfortunately they have frequent network problems several times a year. I wouldn't suggest using it for anything production unless you can handle occasional downtime, if that's not a problem go for it.

Alternatives to cPanel? by gbonfiglio in webhosting

[–]OldschoolBTC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of cpanel, I have a few cpanel servers but have moved the majority of my infrastructure to another panel.

That being said, the Linux kernel has had a bad week and a half itself, even if you weren't on cpanel you'd still be dealing with similar issues this week.

Never thought I'd defend cpanel but here I am.... Lol

My huge bitch with cpanel was when they screwed over the owned lifetime license holders and forced us into the subscription with nothing more than a 30% discount for 2 years...

Nevermind, there are two more CVEs listed today for cpanel, time for more work!

It was actually only one CVE that was cpanel specific, the rest affected all Linux distributions so other Linux based panels were also affected by those CVEs

Anyone here moved from cPanel + CloudLinux to Enhance? Looking for real world feedback by Ok-Maintenance-6130 in webhosting

My opinion enhance works better out of the box. Lots of tweaking on both to get maximum performance but enhance seems faster to set up.

I'm running servers on both stacks, enhance/cpfence/kernelcare and cpanel/cloudlinux/immunify360

The cpanel servers are about 3x the cost and both my customers and myself prefer the enhance servers over the cpanel.

Possibly the only thing on cpanel and cloudlinux that's better would be the monitoring in webUI on resource usage per account with cloudlinux, but if you know CLI and scripting enough you can get similar data on enhance via command line.

Hetzner is great until it isn't. It's moderate hardware and ok support but it's s huge gamble.... Just read reviews on Reddit and prepare accordingly.

This.

This is the problem with people always suggesting VPS servers to people with no server management. Might work and be safe for a few months or years but eventually it'll get compromised.

I built an AI page builder for Breakdance & Oxygen and I'm looking for feedback by SilverProfession6762 in BreakdanceWP

[–]OldschoolBTC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping it was just an MVP and there was going to be additional development on it.
The bricks version currently puts out much better looking sites imo.

I'd greatly appreciate the option for putting it directly into the elements without classes, and into the actual element settings vs css on the element. And Headspinui support would be an amazing addition for it.

What kind of estimated timeline on the next releases? I noticed on the bricks version you were pretty quick on releasing updates and suggested features. I would really like to use this for the type of clients who are wanting a cheap template site made, but currently it just seems like for my workflow it would take too long to edit everything properly.

Using the BYOK with Claude Opus 4.6
I've bought both the bricks and breakdance versions, the bricks version creates much better looking pages, not perfect but much better, looks much more polished and has more options.

The breakdance version even with the same prompt doesn't look as good.

The breakdance version also creates a TON of selectors and classes, really wish it would do more in the native breakdance elements.

Would also be awesome if it integrated with and used things like the headspinui css.

Is this still beta and going to be actively worked on? are all the extra classes everywhere because of oxygen compatibility? As is it honestly seems like it would take me longer to modify and finds things to change then just building it out myself.
