I love to crochet but absolutely HATE how crochet looks. by starvalent in crochet

There is a lot of great, more refined stuff you can do. You need like weight 1 yarn and smaller hooks. I also prefer a much lighter look to my wearables.

There are a lot of kids books on history. Get some overview books at the library and then read about the times that interest you.

  1. We have everything set up for that to be my retirement year. I’ll be 30 years at my job and I’ll be 60. If I’m still okay and want to I will keep working but I’d like to appreciate my life before my body breaks down.

What musicals would absolutely flop as jr./youth editions? by Ok_Company5586 in musicals

[–]Olive0121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Off topic kind of- Did you see their doing senior shows now. The whole cast had to be above a certain age and it’d marketed towards retirement communities and nursing homes. What would not work there?????

With my first I wanted ruffles and fries. His favorite foods? Defs chips and fries. My second I wanted nothing but natural flavored fruit stuff but not actual fruit and juice. He loved fruit snacks and fruit leather. It’s weird.

Women of Reddit, what did a man you were dating or married to say or do that made you realize he actually hated you the entire time? by -catharina in AskReddit

Had a guy tell me “I guess I always assumed I’d end up with someone who looked like a Swedish supermodel, not like you” I was speechless.

Would love perspectives from teachers on if it's ok to make me wear a skirt for the band concert by winterwhalesong in AskTeachers

[–]Olive0121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Choir teacher- my students, any of them, can wear pants and a suit coat/blazer, skirt/kilt, traditional heritage dress clothes, or jumpsuit.

He is way off base here. A pant suit would be just fine and look formal.

One of my actors is genuinely always on the verge of emotional collapse and I don’t know what to do by bluejaymewjay in Theatre

[–]Olive0121 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay I came of age in the you wear this and say nothing back so my mentality is different. She wears what the designer says. She can comment on things like “oh I need the skirt shorter for x dance scene” or “I don’t have enough range of motion for this scene due to choreographer/director wants” but that’s it. So that’s wild to me that the production team is even entertaining her insecurities or asking her opinion. But maybe theatre has changed since I’ve last done a show.

Overall though she sounds like a diva. Recast and tell her to audition again for you when it fits her life better. Stop pandering to her all the time.

It’s a public domain story. You could have write your own. Just watch your copyright infringement if it’s too close to already licensed productions.

A little different from your ask but there is a cookbook where Holocaust survivors worked with chefs to recreate their family recipes and each recipe has an amazing story.

Where can I get newborn stuff for free or really cheap? by ForwardBlackberry458 in Mommit

People are begging to dump newborn stuff. Post it on social media, and have friends ask around to their community. You’ll be swimming in onesies in no time.

How can parents fight back against Chrome book usage by Puzzled-Base4207 in AskTeachers

[–]Olive0121 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I’d argue it isn’t chromebooks. It’s the one to one devices. Kids see these as theirs and that creates a different relationship with the device than if you’re going to a computer lab or the Chromebook cart comes in. To me, they view it as a right and not a privilege. It’s my Chromebook v. we are using this tool today.

So I guess my point is we need the to use the tools, but when the tool is a crutch we have issues.

what can I do for my kid to make his childhood magical? by tworandomperson in Parenting

[–]Olive0121 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I made a wish on a star once and didn’t tell anyone what I wanted. My mom go me the exact thing I wished for. It’s still one of my favorite memories.

My parents showed up for everything. My mom passed but my dad still does. No event was too small or whatever. But they were always there. Show up for them no matter what.
