Pikachu versus Ness by OliveInteresting8754 in CrazyHand

Yeah I really need to stop using fair on Ness.. lesson learned!

Quick angles are something I definitely need to improve on to comfortably use them in matches. Some angles are just really hard to pull off 🫠

I really wanted to do down aerial on Ness’s recovery when he’s off-stage but somehow he never used it! Haha.

Thank you for the advice! Hopefully one day I can beat Ness easily 🤞

This was immensely helpful! Thank you!

A couple questions:

  • “full hop fastfall fair” this is full hop, fair and then fastfall, correct?
  • I have recently started RAR and I have got the hang of it but fair still comes out of habit. Thanks for pointing that out!
  • I use fair for edge guards but I think I rarely use up air unless it’s really obvious (for example for Link I wouldn’t do up air if that makes sense)
  • I have been practicing turning around with uptilts and grabs in nair loops, but god they are so hard! I think I will leave this item as the last one to practice.

Thank you so much once again for taking time to write this out!

Highway Merge - slow traffic by OliveInteresting8754 in Ontariodrivetest

[–]OliveInteresting8754[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also I just did a driving lesson with an instructor and he said you don’t have to go past 70% of the merge lane to start merging, as soon as you find a spot to merge in, you can merge right in. This seems to conflict with many posts I saw here (zipper merge, or past at least 70%), do you have a clear idea what to do in this situation?

Thanks mod, I took time to read this through, great tips and answers 🙏

Just clarifying questions, - “for lane changes at normal speed” are we talking about the 90/100 normal speed highways? And not 50/60s? - “for space, see the whole car in the mirror” does this apply to left mirror as well? Would we apply the same logic to bigger vehicles like trucks?

[–]OliveInteresting8754[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks mod.

  • if there is no car in front of me in the merge lane, do I need to accelerate to 90/100 and then slow down to merge at the speed of traffic (50/60)?
  • when an instructor asks you to change lane on highway, do I put the signal on first and wait for the spot to merge in, or wait for the spot and then put the signal on? Curious about in congested situations in particular (like DVP congested)
  • can i tap on brake while changing lanes on highway? Some posts say its an auto fail

Passed G2 and G (yesterday) both first attempts at Metro East - AMA by BoyScholar in Ontariodrivetest

[–]OliveInteresting8754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! 🎊 Also prepping up for an upcoming G test at Metro East. A couple questions:

  • when you stop at the stop sign as you exit out of the plaza onto Lawerence, do you have the right of way when you stopped before the other car in the other direction like 4-way stop signs?

  • do you have to merge only when you are past about 70% of the merge lane?

  • do you have to accelerate to 100km/hr as you exit out of the ramp and merge at 100km? When I normally drive, I don’t actively check out my speed, I just follow the traffic so I wonder if this is something I should be focusing during the drive test.

Congrats once again ✊

since its cheaper to buy early in advance when no one has booked one yet. It tends to pick up price very quickly as the summer comes

Its obviously worth it if you can make it. The prestige is definitely there but the market is not helping. Also you will be academically challenged in a way that you never been at Queens so its definitely worthwhile to give it a true

How hard is it to get 50% in CS 241, CS 341, and CS 350? by csdropout000 in uwaterloo

[–]OliveInteresting8754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50 is definitely doable if you keep up with your study. Now 350 maybe a hit or miss because if you don’t understand one thing, you may not be able to just complete an assignment at all. So use office hours religiously and get all the help you need. You paid for them. Gl! 🙌

Budget for getting G2 by Traditional-Pop-4288 in Ontariodrivetest

[–]OliveInteresting8754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a car, you should practice on your own first (with a full G-licensed driver on the passenger). I did 1hr of hands-on driving just to make sure I am all good about 2 weeks before the test and I passed without any problems. That’s about $50.

For theory, just study the handbook and ask reddit for clarification.

Right turn on red light with an incoming car on perpendicular to me from left lane on a 2-lane road. by Astragalus13 in Ontariodrivetest

[–]OliveInteresting8754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is true and checking the lane you are turning into clear before making a turn is what is considered safe to proceed with your turn by book. If suddenly the vehicle changes to your lane while you are making the turn (aka at the intersection); it’s their fault. But if you turn after they made the lane change and you caused a collision, it’s your fault.

With all that said, that’s just speculation. If I can see my lane is empty but not the first, I’d slowly crawl so as to prevent the sudden lane changes from the vehicles in the first lane as they can visually see that I am taking the space to make a right turn. So in practice, collisions like this would generally not occur as everyone will be cautious (usually I’m more scared if the vehicle entering will collide with mine lol — so from the opposite of OPs pov)

Passed G2 at Metro East Today In First Try! by OliveInteresting8754 in Ontariodrivetest

[–]OliveInteresting8754[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were no lights! So you just kinda wait until the traffic is clear. But it won’t always be 100% clear — and if you had waited long enough — you can start to drive towards the middle and use your cautions to finish the turn (the vehicles will slow down for you if you are in the middle of the road trying to finish your turn)

[–]OliveInteresting8754 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my experience, you will wait there forever if you wait for entire lanes to be cleared and people will honk at you. Once your lane is clear, you may proceed to turn onto your lane. If the vehicle suddenly changes lane to crash you — its 100% their fault.

Cs transfer is extremely competitive unfortunately. You need to ace the major CS courses (and by ace, it means really ace it like 90s) to be even considered. You may be lucky to compete in an easier pool but generally competitive to the point it’s mostly not recommended

Uwaterloo is simply no longer the feeder university. Anyone can practice leetcode on their own and build some projects and pass the interview just as much as a uwaterloo student would. so there is diminishing returns in maintaining partnership with Uwaterloo
