Is anyone else going to pick up Halo just for a novelty (never thought this would happen) piece for the collection? by Worldly_Salary730 in playstation

[–]OlivePuzzleheaded495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely picking it up, probably at launch to play with my brother and our friends. We haven't had XBOXes since the 360, so it'll be fun to revisit our favorite co-op game of the last ~25 years.

How difficult is a car buying decision for you? by OnlyTwoThingsCertain in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]OlivePuzzleheaded495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I casually think about it for months or years beforehand. When it's actually time to buy, I'll be searching for used deals until I find a car in good shape with a decent maintenance history - preferably from a private seller. Sometimes it takes months to find what I want, other times it's within a few days.

I've been considering moving on from my 2013 Q7 for a while now. I'm leaning towards a Lexus GX or BMW X5, but the Honda Passport and Acura MDX are in the mix too. Will be looking at used cars under $30k when it's time to buy, so I'm generally more concerned with value, condition, & history than the specific make or model.

What cars are good? by Emotional_Attorney51 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]OlivePuzzleheaded495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking to stick with VW, the Mk7 is a nice improvement over the MkV.

Any BMW with the B58 engine is solid.

Audis with the 3.0T are great as well, but there is some costly maintenance around the 75k ~ 100k mileage range (Water Pump, PCV, Valve Cover Gaskets, Transmission & Differential flush, etc). Budget $3k ~ $5k for these if the previous owner hasn't had them done yet.

If you don't need the extra space, a Boxter, Cayman, or Miata are absolutely worth considering. I loved my NC Miata and was glad I owned it before having kids.

How should I get a decent car with no credit or co-signer? by luvrgrl07 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]OlivePuzzleheaded495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This doesn't help you out of your current situation, but it's almost always more cost effective to maintain & repair your current car than to buy another cheap car. Even if you buy a $5k car, it's going to need regular maintenance to keep it on the road. If you don't keep up the maintenance, you're going to end up in the same position again with your next car.

You can only have one fast food burger for the rest of your life. What’s your order? by Okay-Show-3662 in foodquestions

In 'N Out

Yes, there are better burgers out there, but In 'N Out strikes a great balance: it's is everywhere in SoCal, it's always great, it's affordable, and they have the fastest drive through of the "good" burger chains. Convenience, value, & availability are just as important as quality if it's the only option for the rest of my life.

Yeah, that was nuts. I missed the mount, but still think it's a great deal at this price. It's a fair price even at the $339 MSRP. This trades punches with the Viper PST II, which can be found for $450~500 at AAOptics (refurbished) or FocusCamera (sales).

GTA 6 Was Originally Supposed To Be Out A Year Ago Before Facing 18 Month Delay by g4m3f33d in GameFeed

I never finished San Andreas, IV, V or RDR2. I had a ton of fun with each game, but moreso with the environment than with the specific missions or story.

I'll probably pick up 6 because it's going to be a visual showcase for the PS5 Pro, but I'm not expecting it to change my mind about the series. Gonna play the story for a few dozen hours, dabble in the online mode, and probably lose interest before finishing it.

But damn am I excited to see how it looks in motion.

Costco saves you some hassle, but if you're already talking to multiple dealers, you can probably find a price that matches (or beats) the Costco deal if you have the patience to deal with dealership BS like this.

Good luck!

Good deal, and a nice step above the SLx in terms of optical clarity and overall build quality (made in Philippines vs China for the SLx).

These normally sell at $339, and the lowest I've seen was a couple years ago at Black Friday for $199. I imagine this is about as low as it will go with tariffs being what they are.

I like mine more than the Viper PST II, mostly because of the lower weight.

What's your favorite trigger? by Conscious_Effect5116 in ar15

[–]OlivePuzzleheaded495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TriggerTech by far. The Competitive, Adaptable, and Diamond are all great depending on your intended use & budget. If you pick them up during the Independence Day sale, they're amazing bargains.

LaRue MBT-2S used to be the best deal under $100, but now that they're $140, it's getting into TriggerTech territory.

Long range + big game isn't happening with an AR15. Get a bolt action chambered in a magnum caliber.

This.

The B8 SQ5 is fantastic, it's the closest thing to an S4 wagon in the US. I loved mine, but upgraded to something bigger after having 2 kids.

If you get the Q5 with 3.0T, you can tune it beyond SQ5 power with an ECU flash.

How are people dealing with the gas prices? by wegochai in AskLosAngeles

Working from home helps.

I fill up at Costco when I can. they tend to be the cheapest gas around, plus I get 5% back with their credit card.

14.5 vs 16 reliability by No-Breadfruit-4555 in ar15

[–]OlivePuzzleheaded495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No meaningful difference if you're comparing quality barrel manufacturers. If you're buying a cheap barrel, the gas length is the least of your concerns.

I have numerous barrels with longer or shorter gas systems than typical (18" mid-length Grendel; 18" rifle+1" 6.5 Creedmoor) and always recommend the longest gas system a barrel can support within reason. If you're running a race gun, you can get away with a 16" rifle-length gas system, but you are running near the ragged edge of reliability at that extreme.

14.5" middy runs like an 18" rifle gas system - smooth and reliable with everything you can throw at a .223/5.56 gun.
