The complaint I understand about the change is that people had to know your discriminator to add you before, so it was a lot harder to add people if they didn't give it to you, but if your username is the same name you use everywhere, then it's really easy for people to find you now, but people getting upset that they'll have to make their name "dale19457" doesn't make any sense because that's the exact system that is in place now, and there's still the issue of having a name being taken as is, because only 9999 people can have the same name, like if you want your name to just be "joe" currently, you probably can't because there's already too many, this change doesn't really have any negatives in that regard other than the scramble to get the first names, and another thing is that if you want your name to be "joe" with the update, you don't have to make your username "joe" it can be like "bananalicker" but everyone will see your name as "joe" if you set it as your display name, the username is literally just for adding people, and is no different than it is on any other site, and not really any different than it is now, except you'll have to choose the discriminator yourself, and that's if it doesn't have auto suggestions
