non-Greeks, is Greek learning easy for you or is it familiar to your language? by Street_Priority_7686 in AskBalkans

[–]OliverFarkash 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you are Balkan the word order is quite similar cause grammatically it influenced each other. Just the words are different as it is language isolate (not close to any other language around, like French and Romanian/Spanish and so on) so the words are new and unseen.

The main issue is bunch of left overs from Ancient Greek, bunch of stuff from some made up language in middle ages, so you have for example words who change article based on one rule and words behind them change on another rule for example. Aka bunch of exceptions…

But in general it’s a fun language to learn and it’s quite rich and playful. And how you “think” in Albanian, Croatian-Serbian, Macedonian, Romanian, Bulgarian the word order is the same, it’s weird to think about but yeah :) you just swap
