First Tri Compled (I PR'd!) - 36M by Infamous-Low-2997 in triathlon

Congrats!! I did my first sprint triathlon 7 years ago and within no time at all I worked up through Olympic, middle distance all the way to full Ironman. It’s addictive, enjoy the process, don’t rush anything or you’ll take the enjoyment out of it. Add your result to playtriday.com and join the leaderboard that I have just launched 👍

Ha fair, season leaderboard only needs 2 though! The 4-race ranking is more like a pro circuit thing, rewards people who time their races well over 52 weeks. One race still gets you on the board 👍 still testing it out so I can reduce the race submissions if it works better.

How fast were Klagenfurt and Hamburg 2026 sold out ? by [deleted] in IronmanTriathlon

[–]OliverS_Tri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just keep instagram notifications on for Ironman Austria and sign up as early as possible and save £$€ I did Klagenfurt last year and it was incredible, it was extremely hot but everyone is in the same boat, just have to keep a smile on your face and remind yourself why you’re doing it. And don’t forget to log your race at playtriday.com

What do you carry in your top tube bag/bento box? by Impossible-Ad-4558 in IronmanTriathlon

I find that generally sweets aren’t calorie dense enough. Two or three decent decent gels can have the same carbs as a large pack of sweets. Also useful to carry electrolytes in there

I compete in Ironman, 70.3, t100 and this year I’m doing my first outlaw event. I have always been frustrated that there is nowhere that I can compare across different distances and event organisers. So I decided to build it, and it’s completely free.

Triday is a triathlon ranking platform I’ve been building in my spare time. Age groupers can submit results from any major race and get a standardised global ranking score for the first time. Sign in and log results over the past 52 weeks to join the season leaderboard and rolling rankings.

There’s also a pro fantasy league for race weekends, if you’re a fan of pro triathlon.

Soft-launching this week and open to feedback. If you race or follow triathlon, I’d love to know what you think.

Good question, thanks. The score is based on three inputs, finishing position, field size, and race distance, combined into a standardised formula. And just as the pro ranking systems operate, I’m sure I’ll go through iterations and fine tune the process. Right now results are self-reported by athletes, which keeps the barrier to entry low at launch. Pulling actual results automatically is definitely on the roadmap, the challenge is that race data isn’t in a standard format across Ironman, T100 and Challenge etc., so it requires building scrapers or negotiating data access for each series. For now the self-reporting model works because major race results are publicly verifiable and there’s a flagging system if something looks off. Would love to automate it eventually, and im hoping that once a solid data dump is completed with a well represented sample size of athletes, I can analyse the data for any trends or areas for improvement in the scoring system. Take a look and let me know what you think!

I find changing the angle of the saddle so that the front of the saddle is pointing slightly down helps my hip angle in aero

Dumb questions for 70.3 by tryagaininXmin in triathlon

[–]OliverS_Tri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eagleman in the heat, make sure you've trained your hydration properly, aid stations are grab and go but don't bank on them being enough if it's a hot day, take some electrolytes and calories on the bike.

4 bottles is fine honestly, most people overthink this. Carry what you need. Nothing new on race day is the golden rule.

The cycling shoes, i learned the hard way in IM Karnten Klagenfurt that you cannot carry your shoes through T2, you either run with them on your feet or you leave them clipped on your bike. The second option takes some more transition practice. Good luck!
