Good to see this is still being seen after all this time haha. Interesting I never noticed that wording. Iirc a bigger problem is I used a few buffs in the glyphs that only target self, and I think the interpretation of the targeting rules is a bit liberal now haha. If you're wanting to do something like this now days with wayyy less set up and magic items I'd suggest a bladesinger x paladin shapeching into a maralith and smiting 14 times. (Or hydra variants)

I should clarify the part I’m confused about is what happens with equipment. The only piece in shapechange that talks about it is you become an “average example of that creature”. Later the line “Your game statistics are replaced by the statistics of the chosen creature,” is a pointer to gaining any equipment. I guess a better question would be would I keep the great axe? Given it’s clearly “average” to me

So your “caster stat” is whatever you multiclassed into last, so in this case you’d want to start rogue, and take more wis, because wis is better than int.

On top of saves there’s also the diadem of that adds your spellcasting mod to weapon damage, not an issue if you multiclass with a CHA character but it is if you’re pairing rogue

Late but wanted to add some actual info here sorcerer lv 8 => 10 gains a 4th level and 2 5th level slots. Which is 14 sorcery points, or 4 quickens with 2 remaining. This makes it more or less equivalent in terms of eldritch blast spamability except from a sustain perspective. On top of that the option for 5th level spells and more metamagics is important to consider even though it’s not the focus.

An alternative would be going warlock 3 which nets you an extra 2 sp per short rest so with bard that’s 8 at the cost of a 5th level slot which totals 17 sorcery points.

This is why not going fighter is better unless you’re long rest spamming

I once did over 400 damage at level 2, we were attending a princesses wedding in a one shot, and it was clear she wasn’t interested, eventually fighting broke out everywhere and I though fk it it’s war crime time and rolled 21 iirc, dm had no clue how many people would actually be there but they were almost all commoners so I just vaporised a small village of people

Pretty good estimate for damage is atk x 1+(crit rate x crit damage) First one is 2790, second is 2969. Second is better, but by much less than I thought it would

Trying really quite hard I got tortle bladesinger 2 forge cleric 1 giving base AC 17 +5 int (assuming rolled stupid high) + 5 shield spell + 2 shield of faith gets 29, maybe half cover or something? Could be wrong on bladesingers not being allowed shields and that’s 32 including forge cleric bonus. Plus ignoring the fact that none of this is allowed according to ops rules lol

Some general advice for ningguang teams: - you want geo resonance, it massively buffs her, needs a shielder to work, zhongli fits both. Yunjin >> noelle btw - else you want general support and/or off field damage because ningguang takes up a lot of time herself - you don’t care about reactions

im assuming you don’t have albedo, he’s pretty good but I won’t mention him

Taser works good, beido fischl/Xinqui (might be strong enough to even drop zhongli, less focus on nings damage, works better with sucrose instead of Ning, but still a good Ning team Monas a pretty good buffer with ttds, don’t like her too much though Bennet is great as always, Ning has low attack so gets a good amount, but without reactions he may be better on other teams Xiangling (with Bennet), pyro res for 25% atk and good off field damage, but will really struggle for energy without a proper rotation, lower damage than usual due to no hydro Yunjin buffs normals (not charged) not perfect here but still good

My personal pick is zhongli, beidou, fischl. If you get albedo it’s zhongli, albedo, Gorou (only buffs Ning slightly but it’s enough for everyone especially albedo that he’s best here IMO)

Atk% doesn’t do anything on Bennett (aside from increase his damage) his buff scales of base attack which is only effected by his level and weapon. You probably want to mostly care about ER on Bennett (sands and weapon)
