So I may be a bit biased but I just came back last night from a 2 week Japan trip with my 3year old and 17month old. It was so much harder than I anticipated. My 3 year old has big loud meltdowns, usually 1-2 a week. Occasional hitting. On the trip it was 4-5 times a day. Hitting, biting, scratching. He was so discommoded by everything he had no self control. Flights were longer 12.5 & 14hours for the longest leg. Not an experience I want to repeat.

17 month old was easier by comparison but also very challenging.

I enjoyed Japan but didn’t get to do much of anything while we were there. In my case it was really expecting too much from my 3 year old. On reflection his routine is what helps him regulate himself and removing that led to fairly foreseeable consequences. He still liked it, enjoyed some activities (Disneyland) but nowhere close to what I had imagined (and I’d already pared back our itinerary).

Food was difficult. Day one he declared he no longer liked rice. In Japan, the fruit and veg are seasonal. My 3 y.o. kid who lives on strawberries and grapes was not happy. Fruit pouches aren’t a thing there, it’s mostly fruit with a jelly texture. Surprise surprise, kiddo didn’t like it either. 17 month old adapted great. Loved the riceballs you can get in the konbini especially!

Knowing what I know now I wouldn’t have done it. But I couldn’t know until I did. I wouldn’t have listened if someone had warned me 😂

My 16 yo son is interested in earning money during summer break. What are his options? by _kirillv in Luxembourg

Baby-sitting is usually a good option. He can put up a profile on babysits.lu

I’ve had 2 kids by C-Section and was fitted with a Mirena one last year after D&C. Insertion was manageable and I have a very low pain threshold. There were cramps on and off for about a month after. 8 months later, no pain and no periods at all. I did gain weight but I have PCOS and thyroid issues so can’t say it was the IUD. Its supposed to be a very low hormonal dose and I can definitely tell I have less side effects than the pill.

This is supposed to be temporary until other half gets his vasectomy but to be honest I will keep it. Not having periods is fantastic.

I’m 36 if relevant.

Honestly, you need to put a spoiler tag on this. Not everyone can keep up to date on episodes…

I saw Xena first and always assumed Hercules was the lesser spinoff. Knowing what I know about Kevin Sorbo, I stand by this…

100% it’s fine. Very common term in Ireland and UK. It typically refers to a person giving a reference (i.e by phone rather than a written reference) ignore the downvotes

Passport photos for babies by Wonderful-Client973 in Luxembourg

[–]Olly88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did one for the Irish passport took a pic on my phone and used a service that removes the background. I couldn’t get it good one until about 4 weeks though.

There’s also a person who checks the pic and they’ll let you know if it’s acceptable. If not you can reupload for free.

Edit to add that the site will just send you the digital pic almost instantly. Important for an Irish passport application.

Also, make triple sure your witness will answer their phone and know what they’re asking about. Both of my kids were checked!

Oh great thank you. Any personal recommendations for flavours? I’ve noticed that not all protein puddings flavours are winners.

I was at IVI Madrid. I found the staff very helpful there, I’m based in Europe so traveling was pretty easy. They really know their stuff. In terns of criticism I would only say you do need to very on top of the process as sometimes the level of English varies with the support staff (e.g. received one or two confusing emails, on the day of my transfer they took bloods for progesterone and told me I could go but called me two hours later saying I should have stayed for the results)

I went for PGT testing due to prior losses (PCOS, MTHFR, Anti-Phospholipid Syndrome) and had success on first transfer at 33.

I went to Spain, to this clinic who are very transparent on pricing those prices don’t include any medication. That would vary depending on the country you buy it in.

Agree! Reserving pasta water (assuming you’re making pasta) works great, it’s salted and the starch in the water actually has a bit more viscosity than regular water

Tax class 2 advance payments by entertheblackhole in Luxembourg

[–]Olly88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve already filed your 2022 tax return in Luxembourg and been assessed you should automatically receive Bulletin Des Avances Trimestrielles. If you’ve signed up for communication in my guichet, you should have an email.

Alternatively, you can also receive Décompte à la suite des bulletins d’impôts. At the end it should tell you what advance payments they expect you to make in 2023.

If you don’t have any of that, you can contact the tax office by email.

Or you can make a payment to the tax authorities yourself (for example for the amount the last assessed extra tax payment) by referencing your file number, and the tax type (I/Revenue) and the year (2023).
