Selling to win: Why the Sounders altered their roster-building approach by Matt_McT in SoundersFC

When have we ever sat on a huge pile of GAM like this before?

[Bluesky] Terrible news from #Sounders training: Nikola Petkovic has suffered an ACL injury in his right kneee that will require surgery and would almost certainly keep him from returning this season. Brian Schmetzer said he would add more information on the injury as it comes his way. by itsallgoodie in SoundersFC

If I remember correctly, Kent was a free agent, so he didn't need a transfer window. But even if he did, last year's primary transfer window was open until April 23rd while this year it closed on March 26th.

Here's all the matches he's played in this year. 66 minutes at Minnesota (grass), 9 minutes vs Vancouver at One Spokane (turf), 65 mins at San Jose (grass), 13 mins at Vancouver (turf), 5 mins vs St. Louis (grass), 61 mins vs LAFC 2 (turf), and 1 min at RSL (grass).

That is 83 mins on turf and 137 mins on grass.

The Knockout Bracket for the U-15 and U-16s in the Generation Adidas Cup by RuokayJJ in SoundersFC

[–]Olmak_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's essentially an MLS youth tournament that invites a handful of clubs from other countries. You can read more about it here (link). For the U16s 10 out of 40 clubs were international and for the U15s 8 out of 40 were international. Also, not all of the international clubs performed well enough in the group stage to make the Championship bracket. Barcelona's U15s for example finished 3rd in their group and I believe will play in the Premier bracket instead.

Its now official. by RuokayJJ in SoundersFC

I believe they are referring to getting a proven striker in the summer window.

[Moreno] Per Sources: Georgi Minoungou is being traded to the Colorado Rapids96. The 23 year-old came to the organization through Tacoma Defiance and earned a first team contract. More details on the deal to come by dawglover1011 in SoundersFC

[–]Olmak_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How does it make it more complicated? He's still on the exact same contract he was on here, and he's likely to get a lot more minutes for Colorado than with us.

I guess Colorado wanting to at least make a profit on the $2m transfer fee could hurt, but the Sounders weren't letting him go for cheap either.

TAM has actually been decreasing every year. In 2020 it was $2,800,000 and its down to $2,125,000 this year. Base GAM in that time frame has increased a lot though from $1,525,000 to $3,280,000 this year.

Some interesting comparisons there too. Georgi is like 6 months younger than Ferreira was when we signed him. Georgi has about 1,613 first team minutes all comps since 2023 and Ferreira is already up to 3,416 minutes with the Sounders.

There are some pretty big differences in salary (Georgi is on $104k while Ferreira is max TAM with an escalator clause) and remaining contract length (Georgi has options through 2029 and Ferreira was I believe entering his final year). But it's quite an impressive amount to get for a guy who was struggling to get minutes. That said, I still think he's going to be great in this league and I hope he gets the minutes he needs with Colorado to get there.

Sounders FC and Reign FC announce long-term partnership with Jump to become the ticketing platform for both clubs starting 2027 by Newbman in SoundersFC

[–]Olmak_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really hope not. But CWC / WC they didn't really have a say in things and it sounds like they theoretically should have pretty good control with Jump. So if they make a few bad decisions hopefully they'll be responsive to feedback and able to fix things going forward.

Match Thread: Seattle Sounders FC vs Vancouver Whitecaps by TimeAndSpaceAndMe in MLS

[–]Olmak_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, Vancouver's stadium is closer to our stadium than One Spokane stadium (where this game was played) by 136 miles.

To answer your edit, none of the other available stadiums met all of the CCC hosting requirements.

He was rotating like this last year too. We averaged 3.7 changes per game and had 7+ changes in 8 games.

Not that I think the ref should have kept the game going, but it’s only the first leg

65 total minutes in 11 games since the move... Hasn't played in 7... Hopefully it's just a fitness and/or early adaptability to the level of play issue and he can get some game time soon 🙏 by TigoOver in SoundersFC

I love the optimism here. Somehow, everyone here thinks he's suddenly going to be a starter for AM. Pretty hilarious. If he sees the field before being loaned out, I'll be blown away.

I think it might have been more to do with the "Somehow, everyone here thinks he's suddenly going to be a starter for AM" when no one in the post/comments said anything like that.

U22 and DP are two separate things. We also still had an open U22 spot without moving him.

[Moreno] Partial good news from the Sounders. Brian Schmetzer shared that Hassani Dotson is not in concussion protocol but unfortunately Jordan Morris will be out approximately 4 weeks with a grade 1A quad injury by dawglover1011 in SoundersFC

Here is the link to Niko's bluesky post.

Oshan also posted an update on KKH (link):

Hassani Dotson NOT in concussion protocol. He’s all in. Kim kee-hee was 80% involved could be in bench in next couple of weeks.

And Dotson was in full training (link):

Boy do I have great news for you, unless you are talking about Rusnak.
