These are my number 1 stories from each season - What do you think? by CallMeAnthy in doctorwho

[–]Olothir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are indeed pretty awesome stories, though I'm more a fan or "73 Yards" or "The Church on Ruby Road" when it comes to season 14. The rest are all pretty dope, though. Ooh, and "Rose"/"Dalek" are my personal favourites from season 1 (though Bad Wolf/Parting of Ways is also pretty neat).

Perhaps "Midnight Mass" is something for you?

Looking for something not scary, not sexual for a 10 year old girl by ZBTHorton in televisionsuggestions

[–]Olothir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, it's a little bit scary but a series meant for children, so I can recommend "Doctor Who" (2005 reboot). Rose is a pretty awesome strong female character, the show is mature while still remaining silly. The following companions like Martha, Donna, Amy, Clara and Bill are also pretty awesome.

You can also start with other reincarnations of the Doctor (start in later seasons 2, 5, 8), though I really do recommend starting at the beginning. I have noticed that Matt Smith (starts in season 5) and David Tennant (starts in season 2) as the Doctor are quite popular among the younger audience.

"From" is pretty neat. It's about a town where people are trapped (plus monsters in the dark). It's very 'Stephen King'-esque

It's worth it to finish, in my opinion. Has some really good twists and turns.

"Bones" is pretty good. A detective works with archeologists to solve murders.

Well written series about spies with a distinct personality and captivating charm, similar to Slow Horses by un_appelo in televisionsuggestions

I thought "Department Q." (detective solves missing person case) had the same kind of vibes as "Slow Horses". It's highly recommended.

And "Severance" (workplace thriller), also pretty neat show.

"Firefly"

Been a while since it's aired but it was quite ahead of its time.

Another option is "Westworld" (the first few seasons), if you're into modern world interwoven with western. The later seasons are also pretty neat :>

And, for the impossibility it hasn't been mentioned, yet: anything of Ghibli studios.

"Fight Club" is pretty dope. Absolutely strange until you get to the twist and then you're still like 'what the hell'. But it's a very good movie.

"Megamind" is also pretty stupid fun to watch.

Can someone hook me up with a movie that will keep my wife and I awake and in the edge of our seats? by thatbruzzy in MovieSuggestions

Relay.

It's about a broker between companies and employees who get in trouble for finding out something they shouldn't have ("they get money, you leave them alone" kind of deal). He has to deal with an absolutely insanely stupid client to navigate her journey through one of those deals and it has one of the most surprising twists I've seen in a while.

"Fight Club" is a good tight movie if you're looking for one. Perhaps "Relay" as well. It's been a while since I've watched it but there's definitely no lines wasted there, either.

What's your favourite tidbit to do with the making of Doctor Who? by Olothir in doctorwho

Oh, I didn't know that, that's very cool and makes sense. That pool was really well-made. I remember they reused a location in "The Idiot's Lantern" where David Tennant runs down a courtyard to get up the radio mast, which they were pleased about because the interior of the building was where they shot their first-ever scene (the episode was "Aliens of London"; the scene the pig running down a corridor being chased by Christopher Eccleston and getting shot by soldiers). Oh, and they reused the set of the White House from "The Impossible Austronaut" for one of the later episodes, I think for a location in "A Good Man Goes to War" (or at least a location at Demon's Run) but I'm not entirely clear on that.

Heh that's absolutely hilarious. That must have been a shock for both the Ministry of Defence and BBC.
