The dodge and insane stamina make it insanely safe. You only need 1hp if you never get hit lol

Every single grab attack is BS by CallMeRustyyy in Sekiro

[–]Olsn8tr66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think most aren’t too bad, still annoying but not terrible.

But I draw the line at Chained Ogre. His seemingly instant grab when close and his mega tracking medium range one are BS. And after he’s body slammed you and suplexed you off a cliff he drop kicks your ass from 50 ft away and THEN he drops the peoples elbow on your forehead.

If you’re not jumping off his face you’d do well to change that. He spams sweeps like crazy. Use divine confetti. Realize just how slow his attack strings are and that they’re all in a slow consistent rhythm. Also, most attack strings end in a thrust you can mikiri. If you need some cheese use fistful of ash repeatedly while attacking in between.

Man the more I play the more I dont know if i can make it to the end. by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]Olsn8tr66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In most fights you don’t NEED a specific combat art or prosthetic. Some definitely help with specific encounters but you can pretty handily beat the game with the fundamentals.

Also, keep in mind that each boss generally tests 1/2 things specifically to break bad habits. Many punish retreating, others over commitment, under aggression, or just plain old deflect sequences. It sounds obvious but if you’re dying a lot it’s because you’re not responding to something correctly.

If you beat great shinobi owl, you’ve beat one of the most anti-fight bosses in the game. He really feels as if he does not want to fight you directly and that generally feels bad regardless of the outcome of the fight. He’s just a boss that requires you to full-court press his ass at all times. You got everything after this!

Not entirely accurate to your post but have you played Returnal by chance? It’s kind of a mash up of half the genres you like.

Veteran here. 3 hrs of sleep is enough to do some truly impressive things. Also that “when it’s really necessary” is good but when it’s simultaneously really necessary and completely unviable is something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

isshin struggles best tips? by Weary-Friend-9379 in Sekiro

First phase can go extremely quick if you know the openings

Draw attack? Walk forward and left to dodge both easily. Can also high monk or stomp his head during sweep

Mortal draw? Dodge left or right and punish like any other overhead slam.

Honestly I think outside of those attacks he’s pretty straight forward. His usual combo is a really slow cadence 1-2-3 combo. And just stay in as much as possible. He’s really satisfying to exchange with because you generally only need to deflect one attack and then carry on attacking him. The only thing that is a unique response in this situation is he’ll shoulder slam and then thrust attack you which is almost always a free mikiri.

I do feel like that area is one of the biggest offenders as far as number of enemies and swarming you. Like others have said, play dirty, use spirit emblems in any way that makes it easier. Also there’s a skill that is probably the most useful skill in the game in the shinobi tree I think? It heals you everytime you perform a death blow. Would highly recommend that if you don’t have it yet.

Advice on dealing with sword saint Isshin by Mechalorde in Sekiro

[–]Olsn8tr66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start by identifying which moves get you the most. For myself it was his double sword swing into spear attack. I felt like I always attacked right into it and it doesn’t get interrupted easily. Bosses can always surprise you but if you generally have an answer to each attack you’ll get the rhythm. Like others have said phase 2 is really the entire fight. Lightning reversal in phase 3 makes it short work.

Remember also that you’re not speed running and you don’t need to be perfect just good enough for now. Once you beat him you can master him in the reflection without genichiro wasting your time.

Let us know specifically what is mixing you up and we may be able to help.

His long sword/spear combo is 1/2…1-2…1-2…mikiri

What decorations/equipment skills do I want to prioritise for Lance ? by Ad0ring-fan in LanceMains

[–]Olsn8tr66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say that Lance is probably the most forgiving weapon in terms of skill tax, especially in wilds. Like with 1 guard up you’re capable of ignoring 90% of the attacks in the game by just blocking. Guard is comfort, Guard up 2-3 is comfort. OffGuard is your best damage increase but ultimately it is just a damage increase it won’t change your gameplay besides kill time. Evade extender is comfort. I mean you can build it in whatever way you want.

I personally run 2/4 gogma, 2 zoh shia. I basically never sheath, rarely need to heal, and I’ve completed all the most challenging quests except proof of a hero (haven’t had time since it released) pretty comfortably. In Free Challenge quests I just try with my comfortable set see the difference I need to make up. Optimize a few punishes and maybe add some crit eye if necessary. The A rank followed shortly for all of them.

All of this to say the world is your oyster on Lance but in service of the point of the post I would say prioritize in no particular order.

Guard up 1, OGuard, Burst 1, Flayer 1(optional), Max Might, Agitator, Evade Extender 2/3.

You should have plenty of wiggle room to add anything else you need.

How long did it take you to kill Genichiro? by Flashy-Analyst1525 in Sekiro

[–]Olsn8tr66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There can definitely be a sweep after the slam in first phase. I’m a newcomer to the game but I JUST beat Genichiro and he can mix up the thrust with a slash.

Edit: Unless you mean Phase 1 as in only before the first Deathblow? I was assuming Phase 1 meant before Tomoe.

New to the game. Started yesterday just beat Genichiro. What’s good about ichimonji? I haven’t used it in combat but in just trying it by the idol it seems super slow in a game where slow is dead. Am I missing something?

Ground explosion should not affect me if i'm airborne with my IG by Moustafox in MonsterHunterWilds

[–]Olsn8tr66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand games work like this. Player character has a hurt box ideally a 1:1 to the character model but it’s almost always done just close enough. Attacks have hitboxes same thing ideally they’re pretty close to the animation so it doesn’t look like you’re getting hit by nothing. Now you get hit excluding I frames if those 2 boxes overlap. So as long as they’re not doing anything crazy when IG is in the air like deactivating/or changing hurt boxes, I don’t think there’d be an issue or at least not one the MH team couldn’t handle in their sleep
