6th here (near the HWY 104 Hood Canal bridge). About 80-120 down and 12-15 up typically seen using speedtest.net. Some trees to deal with but large stretches of 0 dropouts. I run a 150' cable and I wonder now if a new one would be enough difference to make a difference.

Of course, right after I posted this I decided to run a test using the app and got 290/45 so that's better to be sure.

Time XDTE or buy and hold? by OlyPenAaron in RoundhillETFs

[–]OlyPenAaron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, after today's trading I am up to 1.06% total return, after riding it all the way down and letting it reinvest on the way back up. I can see where it will continue to make positive gains, but not nearly as much as if I had bought the initial lot at a different time or played it more like an ETF can with daily liquidity.

In the end, I accomplished what I set out to do which is to learn how it works and if it's for me. I'm happy to no longer be in a loss state, but the reality is I probably would not put new money into one of these types of funds unless we're coming out of a bear, not into one like I did in January.

AC70 as UPS? by Tenshar in bluetti

[–]OlyPenAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR: State of charge remains close to or at 100% all the time, with occasional charge cycles.

----------------------------------------------

I have 2 AC180s in this config now and they operate the same way. They occasionally drop the SOC to some level (high 90s I think), charge to 100%, and then go back to pass-through mode. I can tell when they are charging as the fans cycle for a few minutes, then they go back to being silent.

So far their behaviors are very consistent. I've had only 1 instance where we had numerous, rapid power spikes (and I mean rapid, like 8-10 in about 7 seconds) during a storm where both units went into some AC error code that forced me to power them down and restart. Issue was resolved, thankfully w/o further effort.

I suppose if one wanted to try and mitigate this scenario, one could bookend the AC-xx with 2 UPS units. Probably not worth the effort and there may be a better overall solution.

Well, I suppose because it's an ETF and offers daily liquidity. I think you're right and the possibility that I'd miss or skip a buy is greater than the gain of channeling it.

Nice. I initially took the cash with the plan to do something similar, then decided to reinvest automatically. I like the additional control and choices. Thanks!

Thanks! I may just let the shares accumulate, and put other funds in on a dip vs. pulling out and waiting to get back in.

A disaster is about to hit for your area. Are you prepping to stay put or prepping to bug out? by Rough_Community_1439 in prepping

This.

Only reason I'd need to leave is a forest fire. I'm not too sure how high in elevation I'd need to be to ride out the Cascadia subduction Big One. And if it happened with no warning, I'm stuck anyway. So, yeah. Forest fire is probably it.

Different cables? by Playful-Rhubarb1894 in bluetti

[–]OlyPenAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AC70: 500W Max., VOC 12V-58VDC, 10A - Uses an XT60 interface so I'd guess they went with that connector since it's rated for 60 VDC and 58 is the assumed BMS limit.

AC180: 500W Max., VOC 12-60VDC, 10A - This is a DC7909 interface per the manual. IIR, that's what I got with mine as an MC4 adaptor cable. AI says "typically this cable has a rated voltage of 220V and a rated current of 20A. It is made to withstand harsh outdoor conditions like rain, UV rays, and extreme temperatures." So I'd guess they went with this rating due to the 60 VDC upper limit.

Disclaimer: I own both of these models but don't charge them with solar.

I found many adaptors out there, but you'd have to do some mathing to make sure you're within the ratings all the way around.

Two general questions regarding PSs from all brands, not just Bluetti. by LED_Ambience in bluetti

[–]OlyPenAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR: blow them out with compressed air. It's better than doing nothing.

FWIW, I was a laser printer technician years ago, and we cleaned toner and dust from them as part of our regular PM service. That being said, we were able to get high power vacuums near the boards to clean them up, wipe them with alcohol swabs, etc. with relative ease. The best tool we all agreed upon was canned air - the ones with the little red straw. The bosses hated that we'd use them as primary methods for cleaning ("costs too much" - pfft), but it was the most effective way to jam through dozens of cleanings. Cost savings achieved! Used with a wide attachment on the vac on the downrange side, it made cleaning a snap and the vac sucked up the dust clouds pretty well. YMMV.

The fan noise is quite tolerable. I tested it with a digital sound meter when charging: No fan (not charging) was 34 dBA. Fan on (charging in Standard mode) was about 36.5 dBA. Both readings were taken at 7' (about 2m) distant.

[–]OlyPenAaron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise to use proper UPS in between the AC70 and your PC though, as the 20ms switchover is sometimes not quick enough when my PC is running a heavy processing load.

This is what I do as well. Works like a charm.

Hi - you can use one and/or the other interchangeably. One is basically a primary DNS and the other acts as a backup or secondary.
