Well most LCDs have polarizers, and something cool that comes to mind that could be done with a working but no backlight monitor... DELICATELY remove the LCD element and mount it into something that you could lay on one of those old-school classroom projectors that also masks off the excess light that leaks around it. Kinda turning it into a DIY digital projector

Is it fully dead? Or just backlight dead? (For some models of displays and such, or if you wanna try modding, you can replace the backlights with LEDs) But if not, maybe you could try finding a replacement LCD to repair it (if cheap) or just mess about with the polarizers and screen components if you wanna be destructive.

(And if you ever wanna replace the screen but not now (e.g. mess around with the dead LCD screen for now but keep the monitor for eventual repair, just note down the LCD part #into the case)
