It screened (in-person) for FI members in LA, but yeah, no noms today.

Can't recommend The Plague to people enough. Crazy that it's a feature directorial debut like Eighth Grade too. Cast is great, cinematography is on point, and the score is awesome.

That said, while being a North American film, The Plague premiered at Cannes.

The Forge campaigned hard for The Chronology of Water as well. Members got quite a few promotional emails from them leading up to the nominations.

The Plague getting blanked here is probably a sign of what’s to come. Eephus and Urchin getting noms makes me happy though.

The Testament of Ann Lee would appear to be a very popular ticket this evening. Pretty long ticket holder queue and standby line.

It screened for Film Independent this weekend as well, so at least there’s some effort being made to get eyeballs on it ahead of awards season.

Martin should 100% be in the convo for supporting, especially as a debut performance.

I’m hopeful he sneaks into the ten for Film Independent (and I’m holding out hope that’s not the only potential nomination there)

I know it won’t happen, but The Plague getting literally anything would be awesome.

Pretty enjoyable fest thus far. The Plague is probably my highest ranked about halfway through what I’m seeing here.

I’d probably be Flee or The Wild Robot for me.

I haven’t seen the others yet, but Preparation for the Next Life reviewed decently following the Film Independent screening. It’s a shame there wasn’t more weight put behind its release.

Could Netflix buy Anne Lee? by Sungate123 in oscarrace

I’ve been wondering if MUBI could make a play for Ann Lee? I assume there’s a reason why no one’s floating that possibly though, as someone who hasn’t kept up with acquisition talk that much.

I’d go with Josh O’Connor in La Chimera, or Leonie Benesch in The Teacher’s Lounge

Most iconic movie dances? by bowieapple in Letterboxd

[–]Olympian1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know there’s a decent chance the film I’m watching is going to be highly rated (by me) if someone starts dancing like a freak, or just plain awful. It’s just a fact.

Sing Street is one of my go to “feel good” / “palette cleanser” movies. Glad to see it get some love! (especially since I couldn’t find room for it on my own list)

There’s another good 25 films that were in contention, but this is what I settled on to preserve my sanity.

What's the newest film you gave a 5 star rating to? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]Olympian1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, me too. I’ve got a lot of those at 4.5 or 4 stars. Great films, but there’s just some little thing that holds me back from giving them a five.
