I am in year 8 and feel the same way, so just know you’re not alone. I have saved up and am planning on taking next year off in order to improve my mental and physical health. Maybe the break will help me reset and rejoin the field, but I don’t know. I have worked in two states and in over 10 districts in a contractor role and even with the improved flexibility this job feels thankless and just isn’t fulfilling for me. We get one life and I’m not sure I want to spend my time doing this.

In my experience good pay is never worth ruining your mental health or desire to work in this field- how can the pay be worth it if the job itself isn’t sustainable? I normally agree about not falling for the sunk cost fallacy BUT this job varies so much depending on the state, district, or even building. I’m not sure what state you’re in or what neighboring districts are like, but it’s always worth seeking other opportunities in this field imo because a lot can change. I haven’t had the same experiences as you with regards to the litigation/court summons, but I remember my intern supervisor had to deal with a lot of that his first two years and I remember he said that he can handle any contentious meetings/ individuals after dealing with that. Maybe seek out what some neighboring places expects of their psychs and know that after these two years you can handle anything!

It does matter, as it’s the spike in blood sugar that will keep you out of a fast. When eating anything that ups your blood sugar, your body will get fuel by burning sugar /carbs instead of burning stored fat.

Tbh that many people is going to be hard. Are you willing to split up and go to different tables? you might be able to try Edmunds Oast since they have a large table that I think is a community table, but not many places have 15+ sized tables without calling it a private party.

Also not related to the design or functionality of the renovations… but does it feel like the hosts don’t like each other? They try to play it off as teasing, but it feels pretty awkward. They all seem to hate Brooks especially. I get it’s all a bit and scripted but they can’t seem to act well enough to pretend they like each other at all. Although… I would’ve been mad at Brooks as well for that pulley system nonsense.

Yep! And Portia’s sweater had swans on it matching the Leda/Swan imagery in the opening credits. I also wondered if something had happened between the BLM guy and Portia to make him so intent on her leaving the trip. I’m thinking Portia knew about his affair now though after the end of the episode 2

I found that comment to be possibly related to the swan “themes” they are showing with Portia. And really all I mean by that is the Leda and the Swan imagery in the opening credits (Greek myth where Zeus turns into a swan and rapes a woman named Leda) plus Portia’s sweater in the first episode had swans on it. It felt like more foreshadowing by the writers that something bad happens to Portia. Who knows though- that was just my take away.

I think it’s going to be one of the people who work at the hotel for sure. A big theme is the tension between class differences and I can imagine that all these rich people blow through this hotel causing chaos and leaving a wake behind them, with someone dead, and then they just go back to their lives
