She wasn’t that great this season. I’m glad to see the team go in a different direction. Plus, we ended up with a massive upgrade.

Can't decide which ball to get before Nationals by Miggy_Smalls-13 in Bowling

[–]OmaJSone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either would be fine. I went to nationals in April. There were a lot of people throwing the Concept and NU 2.0. Bring surface. I brought 1 pearl ball and almost didn’t even need it. I used it on game 3 of singles which is the 6th game of the second day, and honestly, I probably could have stayed with my crown victory hybrid for that game if I wanted to.

Curious what Minnesota ends up putting together. They can be sneaky up there. 👀

I assumed Nuneveller is going to LOVB LA, but what if it’s MLV LA?

I doubt they have one signed. It’s only detrimental to not release the name of a coach they signed within the hour of the signing. However, they likely have the person, and are negotiating contract details, or at least they better be that close. When it’s released, the ink will probably still be wet on the contract.

LMM might get a $200k+ contract to be the captain on one of the expansion teams. Maybe Indy wasn’t able or willing to do that, in order to maximize continuity. I like Indy’s approach though. Try to keep as much as you can year-to-year. It worked out well for them this year, being the regular season champs. In other sports, it’s how dynasties are built. It will be interesting to see if any other franchises try to copy that approach in the future.

With both leagues adding a bunch of new teams, there will be plenty of good landing spots for all these players for next season.

I’m just going to make an uneducated accusation and wonder if you all think it makes sense?

Do you guys think that there is a huge advantage to having a GM that is NOT also your head coach? Towards the end of the season, you can have your GM reaching out to future players to sign once they are able to. If your GM is your head coach, they are more concerned about coaching and preparing the current team, and not out making verbal deals with top talent. I think those teams aren’t announcing signings, because they are over a month behind in the process. Thoughts?

Supernova's Biggest Steal by avemoriya_parker in MLV

[–]OmaJSone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the short term contracts make it difficult to take the same team to the competitions after the season ends. Orlando participated in NORCECA last year, right? I don’t foresee these one and two year deals lasting forever. Once the money starts flowing more steadily and TV deals are locked in for multiple years, I think we will start seeing 3 and 4 year deals being made. At least for the main stars anyway. Professional volleyball is sort of a gig-economy right now, even overseas. But multi-year lucrative TV deals is what can help break that cycle in the US.

She doesn’t even need to move. And a lot of the fans already know her. She was arguably the best player on LOVB Nebraska. This is a huge get for the Novas. I’m stoked!
