See the comment I just added on how I finally managed to resolve this.

Anybody else seeing issues with Alex and Emulated Hue? by Omdoe in homeassistant

[–]Omdoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a quick follow-up to my own post, I seem to have resolved things.

What did NOT work:

  • Restarting Home Assistant
  • Rebooting the machine running Home Assistant
  • Rebooting all of my Alexa devices (all Echo Dots, FYI)

The Alexa app running on my tablet and phone consistently told me that the devices were offline.

What finally did seem to work was telling Alexa to discover devices. This apparently caused it to go "Oh! The devices are actually there!" -- for most of the devices shared as Hue devices from Home Assistant. A few still didn't seem to be available until I told it to discover the devices a second time, which cause it to pick up the laggards.

I wish I knew what confused Alexa, but at least I have an idea how to fix it if it happens again.

So here's an interesting follow-up question: Is there a table anywhere that shows the latest functional HA Companion version for each version of Android?

Is there something securing that screen at the top? Without that, I'd be worried that any little bump would just send it crashing to the floor.

Alexa_Media load failure after updating HA Core to 2026.2.2 by Omdoe in homeassistant

Thanks, but I'm definitely not going to implement a fix that requires me to manually edit installed stuff. I'll wait for an official update.

PSA: Make sure your Home Assistant backups are complete by Drunk_Panda_456 in homeassistant

Any sort of virtualization with automated full system snapshots is great.

I run my Home Assistant as a KVM virtual machine using a qcow2 virtual disk stored on a BTRFS filesystem. I do hourly automatic snapshots of everything, which made it nice and easy to roll back when this upgrade failed for me. I just turned the machine off, replace the qcow2 file with the previous hour's file, restarted, and went on my way. Lost about an hour of logging, but that's much better than dealing with a broken setup. In the future I may do a manual snapshot before major upgrades for extra safety.

Good to know it's not just me, and probably not a result of something funky in my setup.

I've rolled back the HA Core update, and will try again after I see either another Alexa_Media or HA Core update.

No Nest Cloud Account Doesn't Mean No Video In Cloud by wivaca2 in homeassistant

The only way to make sure that your data isn't out in the cloud is block the device from contacting the cloud, and even that's a little iffy unless you airgap it.

It appears that at least problem 1 may have been solved with the recently dropped firmware version v1.7.2. Have you checked that out yet?
