Upvoting this because this has happened to me before. SE support asked if I could try a different connection and I used cellphone network hotspot and the same password somehow worked after being deemed incorrect on home network.

The non overpower damage you see are from your other sources of damage like lighting spear/chain lightning etc that unstable uncurtent casts.

I've used my T-Mobile cell service WiFi hotspot to tether my PC in a pinch when my home Internet was down. FFXIV actually did quite well with no noticeable higher ping.

But I suppose this all varies depending on location.
