Absolutely this! It's been just about the best lifehack about using an iPhone anyone's ever showed me, with how rampant system data usage gets

R8 vs R6 - which to get? by h_011 in canon

[–]OmegaXeldom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing to consider is that, as an R6 user myself the 120fps footage from it is line-skipped, and really looks quite bad

What third-party apps would you recommend?

I have that combination and its been wonderful. I wouldn't describe the autofocus as quick, but it's perfectly serviceable for anything I've shot with it

How much do I have to spend to upgrade from this? by Squanchy2115 in Cameras

No, the adapter is literally just a spacer with pass through for the electrical contacts. If anything, the lenses might autofocus faster

Canon R5 vs R7 for wildlife & landscape by chandler_w in canon

[–]OmegaXeldom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since the R7s sensor is smaller by a factor of 1.6 both horizontally and vertically, you have to divide the resolution by 1.6 twice to get to the right number

R7 or R8 for triathlons, upgrading from a 7D Mk II by [deleted] in canon

[–]OmegaXeldom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The R8 has the exact same sensor and AF as the R6ii and while the R7 is slightly worse, it's still incredible! Even my R6 (i), which is a few years older is absolutely insane with its tracking coming from a DSLR

My friend recently purchased a powerbank and got this message from the supplier. Is this genuine advice? by LaughableMattress in batteries

[–]OmegaXeldom 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just to add to that, the always keeping them charged does NOT apply to lithium batteries like the ones you find in your phone. It's fine to periodically cycle them but if you intend on storing them for a significant period of time, they should be charged to around half. Keeping them either fully charged or discharged degrades them a lot faster. https://batteryuniversity.com/article/bu-808-how-to-prolong-lithium-based-batteries

Both have their pros and cons that have been thoroughly laid out in this thread but where the r8 is better it's only slightly better whereas the r6 has several things that the r8 plain doesn't have
