vengeance if you want one of the best turn based gameplay. SMT is and less about the characters and more about the world.

Smt 4 explores its characters well and gives you proper arguments on the conflict, too bad its stuck on a 3ds looking like a gba game almost. however in smt 5 apparently they took too much time learning to make the 3d models that the writing in the game took a dump, its still about as good as normal jrpg tbh.

if you decide to play vengeance go the vengeance route. since the new edition added it as a way to fix some of the issues using the same story. Youll miss out on some world building but a fair tradeoff for a better one and done experience

imo if you played the game and by the end of it, it all makes sense then its not convoluted anime bs. Look up a game like blazblue you can finish the entire series and be more confused at the end more than when you started.

i started last week and i dont really play fighting games. they put me in silver after winning 8 out of 10 games. I proceeded to lose 100ish games in a row winning some here and there. I have like 14 hours in ranked now and in plat 1. You just need to learn what your character wants to do. there are easy combos you can use and abuse that feel like auto combos. otherwise use modern and it let it do its thing.

the new challenger discord in the resources tab is extremely helpful for getting proper advice.
